So I’ve been told that t4 queue times are even higher and skill level lower than t3, and that t3 is where the most competitivness is at.
Considering that I want to do sector conquest eventually, and that t4 is considered the minimum requirements for that purpose, is it worth moving up to t4 or should I purple my t3 lineup for skirmish pvp??
Skip t4 by pve/invasion/free synergy and go for t5 like everybody does.
T5 and T4 are the same “tier” now because fighting each other.
i see.
well there’s one problem, i don’t play pve cuz it’s dull as f*** , and i can’t use free synergy because the conversion rates are super s*** and i’m poor.
There are 2 different schools of thought on that matter. Mine is that T4 rulz, you can do well enough vs T5, and the que is not that bad at all. In the last week I’ve been getting multiple matches in 2 man squads in less than 10 seconds. But in T5. Also there is a different queue for T5 with a rating superior to 1300 from what I hear.
But anyway, it’s a personal preference. If you enjoy T3 you can stay there 'till the end of time. Me, i wanted to get the best ships, and learn to fly them. The gameplay is different from T3, you’ve got more “omg this is so not fair” situations. But in my opinion, it also brings more satisfaction when you know you can kick xxxx with the best stuff that’s around. When i started T4, T4 was being farmed by ESB death squads, and it was REALLY tough back then. Now it’s a lot better, more players try the higher ques, and you should do fine. It’s never fun to fly unsynegized/unequipped ships at start but hey, i guess you had the same problem at the start of T3. I advise you to gear up 1 main ship, and move on from there.
T4 only pvp is not existant, I qued few times with my almighty R10s and got matched with R15s. T4 is not very different from T3, when there was time when T4 got own que, you could jump in with Wolf or Kite and own everyone.
Tier 4 is fun, most of my games are played in the Tier 4-Tier5 queue.
Some advices:
Rank 10 ships lack one passive module if you compare them with rank 11-15, so they are in a slight disadvantage
I recommend you to save some credits or green Mk2 upgrade kits (you can get T4 mk2 upgrade kits playing rank 9 ships in PvE and PvP) because a full white ship with no synergy sucks. Full green is better (no need to invest in blue + purple, seriously, most of my ships in T4 are still green)
Try to level up ships to level 4 in synergy with free synergy. Once you reach level 4 synergy, most ships become competitive.
You will face some tier 5 ships here and there, but don’t worry, rank 11 vs rank 15 is almost equal, they just have more implants, but that is hardly a difference in a game.
Skill wise, you have a lot of tier rushers and some good players mixed in between. Since ships are more powerful here due to passive slots + implants, a single guy (even in a rank 11 green ship) can carry the game.
Queue times are almost the same than in tier3, but you will find very difficult to match another 3 or 4 pilot squad. 2 pilot squads are common.
Stick to your team mates, try to be in second line and supporting until your ship is level 6-8 in synergy, and you have enough money for green modules. Leveling up ships is a pain, but once fully upgraded they are in a bigger magnitude order than tier 3 ships. It is worth.
Tier 4 ships, well most precisely rank 11 and 12 ships, are totally competitive vs rank 15 ships. My usual ship lineup is made of rank 12 ships and I can solo anything, from falcom M to Waki AE to Inquisitor S. Don’t trust the whiners.
I suppose most people will tell you to grind ships in PvE, but that is a bad advice. Even if you lose the game, even if you don’t do too much, you will get around 3 times more synergy in PvP than in PvE, and PvP is more fun.
In fact, some t4 ships are worth it because give a different gameplay like the Minotaur.
Some ships just simply fail compared to their t5 upgrade.
The difference between an r11 and r15 is only implants and modules slots. If fact, the only true difference between r11 and r15 is the r13 implant that is just a huge boost.
I swear I’ve seen some ESB guys that were in t5s using A1M1s in sec con. Dude was doing a complete loopty-loop over and over in a lion mkII but hitting me dead on with gravi beams despite looking like he was stuck in a loop on a roller coaster. T4 ships themselves are very fun, IF they are fighting equivalent ships and not fully purple r14/r15 ships (dat r14 implant :008j: ). They are some of the most balanced ships (apart from having the A1M1) in my opinion, and would be my tier of choice to play in if it wasn’t for facing nothing but t5 inty balls.
FALCONS!! FALCONS EVERYWHERE!! OH GOD, OH GOD WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE! :fed013:

Falcons are squishy, predictable and only have burst DPS. I’m more worried about the 3.6 sec stun of the waki AE or a coil spammer LRF.
What you should fear is some skilled pilots, no matter what ship they fly. A falcon M flown by a random pub is as deadly as a craddle of sleeping kittens.
Well another big parameter to take into account is your rating.
If below 1300, you’ll play only with people with low rating, otherwise…
Yesterday, even with some 1600+ Nova players with us with full purple rk15, our team of mainly low synergy White/green T4 was stomped upon very badly. The Nova decided to hide somewhere while our spawn point was invaded.

You don’t get +1600 by dying too much. So you either have a good build and try not to die a lot, OR just stay out with long range weapons and run like a little girl every time something is closer than 4000 m.
With time, you will know which player do what and what not.
I remember NeoCodex proved that when he switched to the Panther with gauss, and just got from 1500 to 1770 SR in one week. Boring, but effective farming.
Any tips for moving up to T4? How is the metagame different from T3? Presently I have a Nodachi and a Garm, and I’m intending to farm for a Minotaur and a Tiger first. Haven’t decided on my last ship yet… for now I’m considering a Tormentor AE.
