Honestly I would love to see star wars, star trek, babylon, homeworld, S.S. yamato, gundam, and even the US space shuttle outfitted with turrets to be in the game as either super special ships or even trophies for winning a tourney.
Like imagine flying the USS enterprise around? Would be sweet as hell.
What do you guys think? Should we beg the devs to add something like that to the game or is it a just a dream for me?
Definitely just a dream. You think people won’t sue? They’ve sued for less.
As much as I like StarWars, I have to say no.
I really don’t want to end up flying in a match filled with Serenities, Enterprises, X-wings, Charons, and Tardis. I like my sci-fi universes separate.
Or, what if you could actually import your own ship? I know CAD as a profession, I would love to design my own Interceptor…

Since the skin of the ship doesn’t really matter if you’re the only one seeing it, there’s no problem with third-party programmers doing all sorts of neat cosmetic things with their ships. You’d just need a little bit of third-party support, a trend in the gaming community that I hope continues into the future, so that they don’t ban you for tampering with the programming.
And if you make a TIE Interceptor skin for an interceptor, there would be no words.
hitbox will be all screwy

A lot of third-party support.

Better:
In-game personal ship design. Choose from a selection of baseline hulls, wings, fins, engines, turret placements etc. If this was possible I would put this as #1 on my Top 10 Games of All Time.
every play KSP? same thing!
I have, actually. TO THE MOON! Or Mars. Or whatever takes your fancy.
Games like GalCiv 2 let you design your entire fleet based on hard-points and technology available to you, including frills and aesthetics that don’t matter (of course, more complicated ships are more expensive to make.) That said, GalCiv 2 was so easy to reprogram that anyone could go in and inject custom races, complete with dialogue options and visuals.
My favourite was a three-way war between the Borg (huge ships, high speed), SHODAN (biological weapons/technology, “infested”-looking ships), and the Daleks (swarms and swarms and swarms of EXTERMINATE!)
EDIT: KSP is also an amazingly fun NASA sim. There’s a demo out there if people want to make a rocket so you can attack the Moon with science.
NASA players play NASA sims in NASA space in a NASA corp…
