Problems with Matchmaking.

Well, im back playing a little bit more per day, and after half a month im writing here what i found out to be extremelly disturbing about the matchmaking.

Ive been playing T2 for this time, to max out the rest of the ships, and obviously i have quite a good gear with all T2’s i fly. So basically here’s the problems.

  1. 2-man squad, only blue weapons equipped and around 1200 rating. Im not complaining about having to fight T3’s if they are max rank 8, and even among r8 there should be none with blue/purple gear and ratings above 1200. Because acording to what has been said, the MM takes skilled players and pit them against stronger challenges, but it is not a challenge if the enemy is flying for example, an Anaconda-M which is clearly a R9, and carrying blue/purple gear smashing everyone with EM torps and massive positron shots as it happened to me, when the queue was showing ranks 5-8.

  1. So basically, what im asking is not to be given free frags, but also dont give impossible to win fights. Today for example, we (me and my brother) fought ppl with 900 rating, but piloting a desert eagle with great gear. Even though he should be a poorly skilled person acording to rating his ship simply smashed through anyone who was flying a T2 and was pratically indestructible. So, what im asking is not to remove outright mixing tiers, but setting limits so a tier never fights the next end tier ships.

  1. Why do that? Because of the modules diference we have between tiers. For example, ECM T3 has an ability that completely disables the enemy ship, while the T2 doesnt have that hability. Not to mention the passives and the extra skill slot it can carry, diferent and more usefull kinds of ammunition and extremelly powerfull DLC and premium high-end T3’s (An full octopus in the face of a tier 2 ship (inties and fighters) is enough to blast it into oblivion sometimes. Acording to this, either make modules and amunitions equal between all tiers, or at least prevent any kind of tier 2 for example, to fight r9’s. And apply that to all tiers, like Tier 1 never facing R6’s. And so on in all tiers.

  1. Tweak matchmaking for combat recon: Please do this properly, im really tired to see the MM chosing on my team a low IQ low tier LRF and chosing the enemy cap as a fully equipped well flown 1400 sr maxed out ecm interceptor. Chose both captains properly.

  1. Why do we have a so high map repetition. Like we fight hundreds of times on about 3 maps, and a few dozen on 2 more. And some are completelly gone! Also, it seems 60% of the games are anoying detonation matches. And all the other modes favor interceptors due to mobility to capture beacons. Why removed from normal PVP the realistic mode? That was in my opinion the best pvp mode there was. It was just if the MM doesnt screw things up by not matching equal number of ships and skill tweaking.

Please, make the maps more variables, and the game modes aswell. And fix the ranks mixing please.

  1. I think it’s changed some.  A few weeks ago I’d be around 1300 DSR and see T2 ships while flying R9’s.  I don’t anymore.  The devs are mixing tiers less than before.

  1. That’s a long standing complaint.  I recently had a 1v1 combat recon against an 800 rated pilot.  Guess who won?  Also, DE is a premium ship and counts as R8 for MM AFAIK.  I’ve noticed ESB squads abusing that mechanic to not get put into long T4 waits when the queues dry up.

  1. I recently had a 2v2 combat recon that pissed me off.  My DSR around 1350, and a mid 1000 DSR pilot on one team, a ~1400 DSR ESB pilot and a mid 1000 DSR pilot on the other.  Initially it seemed “fair.”  My crap captain turned around and ran away in a tackler, while the ESB member was captain for his team.  I didn’t know whether to protect the captain or to attempt to kill the ESB captain while facing a 2v1.  We lost, of course.

  1. I’m assuming server resources.  It’s kind of annoying, but what’s more annoying is how certain days are certain game modes.  It’d be better if the game modes were truly random.  I’m ok with limited maps, but the game modes gets boring and repetitive.  Boring and repetitive never means fun.

That happened to me 3 days ago. Queued, the queue thing said i would be queueing from ranks 5-8 and on the enemy team there was an Anaconda-M full blue gear smashing everyone.

Thats wrong (not you, you are right) but thats wrong, why a premium ship with R9 atributes and capabilities (sometimes even superior than the normal R9) is put in a lower queue? Oh, i know, they pay, so they deserve to win by flying against weak T2.

Sometimes i feel like the Devs put a little skull on me regarding the MM, because always when me and my brother are doing combat recon we can predict 85% of the times who will be the cap… THE LOWEST SR LRF there is on our team.

100% agreed, repetitive things are not fun. So at least vary the game mode more and the maps, there are maps i havent seen in a month.

Well, today i’ve done some T3 pvp, after a long time, just to see that things in T3 are even more unbalanced. How? The matchmaking is not organizing things according to the SR of ppl. How do i know that? Because in several battles we encountered 4 people from ESB on the same side of a conflict, along with other 1400-1900 rating pilots not from ESB, while the team i was the TOP was around 1370, maybe a little bit more or less, but in average less than 1200, while theirs the average was 1750.

How they do that i dont know, allegedly from the patchnotes of recent patches rating would matter more when placing people into a battle. So, how come them with those ratings always stay on the same side of the conflict (im talking about normal PVP T3) along with a lot of ubber SR players and the other team is made up of Newbs(me included)?

This picture shows what im talking about: Sorry i dont know how to put that spoiler thing.

As we can see on this picture, we can tell that we would be farmed. And what happened a few minutes later? They were all in the spawn point killing everyone and won in a matter of minutes. And this wasnt a one time incident, i think from the 15 T3 battles in PVP i fought today in 10 happened the same thing. So i ask: Are the developers in this game favoring in any way ESB on queues? Because that seriously appears to be the case here since they NEVER (based on my experience on this afternoon) fight eachother. And they are ALWAYS acompanied by other VERY skilled players, as if they would need even more skilled pilots on their side. Their queue wasnt suposed to be the same as i am with 1200-1300 rating because if they are queueing with 4man squads, they should be facing a much higher queue, and wait to get a force with their equal power, but due to the MM system of benefiting lower population tiers, that causes the game to break. That is proven by the fact the number of ppl in T3 queue is far inferior to T2, because you broke the game, simple as that. People that start to play now, when they reach T3 they stop, because noone likes to be stomped in every single battle.

And all that incur another dammage to the game, because the people that keep playing despite this, move to PVE, then after doing a lot of pve they get bored and leave the game aswell. Either the devs learn how to administrate the game, or they will not have a game to launch, they will have a piece of garbage with space ships on it.

It’s beautiful how certain T3s 4-man (with tons of SR and high W/L) squad aren’t pushed up in the tiers to face T4s, like everyone else who does a squad in T3 ships… Oh, but wait! We have discounts in the ships! THE GAME IS FIXED!

[/irony]

I feel your pain, but there’s nothing to be done, not until they (Devs) recognize the problem and fix it, but we all know they’re kinda blind when it comes to it, the autocritic isn’t their forte.

Yep happened to me and a buddy too. The same ESB squad and we had only SR1200… They wiped the floor with us.

We need a little bit of humor in this thread.  I had this match just a few days ago.  Two two man squads on one side and four pugs on the other.  I thought match maker was supposed to balance squads, right?  Is this a bug or something.

Here’s what happened, I mean seriously.

Match maker should have split up the squads just so one of them could win.

Everytime I enter a PvP match, or see a screenshot from somebody here, this image comes to my mind, with the classical “Welcome to…”

What’s really annoying is watching recordings on full screen and you try to play.

The only thing missing to finish the joke is Error or Antibus comming here and saying: Working as intended.

But seriously, take note, if antibus or error comes around here, all that they will say will be sumarized by two possible phrases:

  1. We need more logs (which they can get by checking their own servers).

  2. Thanks for the feedback. (and then, one year from now the problem is still on the game…)

Shhh, stop complaining, it’s WORKING AS INTENDED , so let’s the hunt begin, we are all prey, muahahahaha (why I am laughing? xD)

What other choices do we have other than laughing?

“It is working as intended. Adjustments are always being made to balance the Matchmaker when and as possible to provide a more pleasurable experience for all.”

Or… something like that…

Well, im pretty damn sure the ESB guys farming everyone are happy as hell with the current matchmaking.

Is it just me, or are there more mixed T3/4 matches? My DSR ain’t high enough for me to be seeing R12s.

Flying outside of a squad, the highest you should see it an R11.

These days I always fly solo. Parallax, Kris AE, Styx. While the R12s appeared on both teams, I wasn’t expecting to see any at all.

The game is made for them, tbh. Not wanting to point fingers, but abusing the MM is extremely easy. And if you have a full Premium active Hangar, it can be very easily mistaken with P2W.

Well, if you dig enough in the russian forum, you’ll find some interesting things about “people that know each other in real life” and stuff like that, so, yeah, Ory is right.

If I fit my hangar with Grim/Phoenix/Reaper (and nothing else) I’m send to tier 2.
