A casual player will of course learn T5 techniques, but he won’t acquire skill like aiming, reactivity etc… When I’m talking about skill I mean those (I know, I should have precised).
If two different players go into SC they’ll have different skill (aiming, reactivity) it’s normal, we’re all different. To cover up for the difference, the lowest skilled one may have to double or triple his amount of gaming hours per day. But most people CANNOT simply pass more hours in game, they can learn techniques, builds, etc… but they cannot improve aiming and reactivity after a certain point. At high level (the few T5 I’ve seen so far), these two things are quite importants.
If it takes 3000+ games to get to T5, given it takes roughly 20 min for a game (5min search + 10min match + 5min gearing). Do you realise a person who plays 2 hours EVERYDAY would take 1 year and a half to get to T5 ? Talk about extreme. I don’t think many people would play that much without changing game specially if you couldn’t play the whole game during this time.

There are plenty of games out there that take years to master, like previous examples of DotA, LoL and Star Craft. Most MMORPGs take almost a year to reach the “end-game”, and there’s people that after 3 or 4 years still haven’t done everything. This game ain’t a professional sport, we all know it, but it has the bases to become one if the devs ever want it. Also the ship progression was designed with the idea that it’ll take long time to reach the “end-game”. Without searching for a fight nor nothing like that, I want to know if you ever thought about this game being designed with that mentality (the long, grindier, progressive game), or did you really believe this is a casual one, that playing 1 hour per week will let you reach the final ships and be able to compete head-to-head with the others?.
I though this game didn’t obligate players to have a lot more than average skill to get the full game.
I’m okay with having to take 5000 hours to get 3 T5 ships. Ok, but let me fly them then, I’ve T3 level currently with T3/T4 ships (never flown T4 ships yet because my friends don’t have any). Since I’m doing pve with my T4 ships I’m almost at T5 for my gunship. But I “don’t have the right” to fly them…
Some people even after 5000 hours will still have low skill, even if they have 10000 or even more, they’ll still have low skill. Not because they doon’t want to learn, but because they don’t have the reflexes and aiming as precise as the pros.

-Dota : you have access quickly to all heroes and stuff
-LoL : same thing
-Starcraft : just after your first launch you can do skirmish and have all units
-MMORPG : if you take 5000hours, it doesn’t matter if you have skill or not, you’ll have access to end-game.
In all the case you can play a FULL game even at low skill, not a limited one.
What about squads without skill? How should MM handle them? A four man ESB is far different than a four man Southern Lights. BTW, who’s Southern Lights?
Also, I think some people are confusing skill with experience. Three hundred games and T5 means no experience even if they have sufficient skill. What kind of skill are we even talking about? Who’s best at dodging fire and hitting targets?

I agree, as a person with more then 2000 battles, I would call myself experienced, but even a experienced person can have a lack or an abundance of skill.
