Poll: Increased difference in ship ranks in PvP battles

Although the message is clear as to the reason of the rank increase, more spread from we already have will cause chaos. Perhaps the developer and publisher should take some other measures to improve things…

This is what I suggested 6 months ago. 3 queues, “easy”, “medium”, “hard”. In fact, when you tested the boni, for the first time in this games history, rank 10 and 11 ships were useful, fun to play and the meta full of options for niche builds.

This assumption is wrong, during this time a Prometheus Fire, beat a spark every time. The issue was that people did not ajust their fits, still flying complete resistance tanks, ignoring the possibility of buff tanking, wich was perfectly viable due to the boni.

 

Question: why did all the forum data dissapear after the new design?

yeah - you too noticed that you cannot use Gargoyle and Dart with R15s?

I Would love to be able to use my lower ships in high-rank battles but just 5 ranks isn’t going to let me do that. Rank 15 is really genuinely a terrible rank and all my favorite ships are rank 8-10.

Games when ranks were split into Easy / Medium / Hard, those games were the most fun and diverse as far as I remember. Of course “yes”, at least in r10-15.

 

Unfortunately, your average players are too close minded to look past rank number above the ship, and until you (devs)  invest resources into changing a Ship tree to reduce a total amount of ranks visible to a player, you will be facing a huge vocal resistance mostly based on ignorance and conservatism.

We have been down this road before and it wasn’t that bad, honestly. Queue times aren’t that bad for me in T5 unless I group up with someone. I think there is bigger problem with MM than just not enough players. I queue into battles with different players plenty so its not that there isn’t enough.

 

Anything that will help MM I’m voting yes for.

I am for 3 difficulty curves - Easy, Medium and Hard. We had this once already!

The Matchmaker range should be based on your Implants ±4 Rank (highest) range for all.

 

One good example, how faulty the game was with the passive buffs and resistances is here:

Prometheus Fire vs. Spark (Prometheus damage output and resistances surpassed those of Spark!)

I could turn this to my advantage and just obliterate my foes.

Again, no passive bonuses! Only consider ±4 Rank range!

 

 You should make 3 difficulty curves - as you did once before, but without any passive bonuses (damage buffs and resistances).

Easy      (Rank   1-5)    (±4 Rank range)

Medium (Rank 6-10)    (±4 Rank range)

Hard    (Rank 11-15)    (±4 Rank range)

examples:

When you select any ship, let’s say, Rank 10, you can only choose any ship from Rank 6-10.

You can not use any ship below Rank 6 or above Rank 10.

By selecting your first ship in the ship’s slot, you lock the other difficulties or Rank ranges, until you remove it, or change it!

 

The Implants:

examples:

Any Rank   1-5   ship can use Implants of Rank   5.

Any Rank   6-10 ship can use Implants of Rank 10.

Any Rank 11-15 ship can use Implants of Rank 15.

The final difference was within 5-10%, which is hardly much

What do you mean? Rank 15 ship had only resistances, while Rank 10 had both +30% or more damage, plus greater resistances.

It had lower passive bonuses, less passive slots, lower equipment rank, fewer implants.

 

Just because you get a swooping 30% BASE dmg buff, does not mean you are going to do 30% more dmg.

If you make this TEMPORARY until more players are active, I’m fine with buffing lower end ships.

There will be no more players without any expanding advertisement, not to mention other matters of economic nature.

I don’t know but I think the Ellydium ships are attracting a different type of player than what we were getting before. Old schoolers leaving but new schoolers staying longer?

 

Either way, it is a different approach and its risky.

Meh i’m fine with that, seeing a bit more diversity of ships In battle can make thing interesting

This is why I wish we had a specific game mode that was for classic ships only, it would help bring those oldschool players back in.

There will be no diversity in such cases, in other word it will become boring very quickly
