I’ve know a lot of people look at player ratings, and most corps even require a certain player rating. For about the past three weeks or so, I’ve been flying mainly in my Spirit ECM, partly to save on repair costs while buying new ships. My rating stayed around 940, in the low end for anyone. Playing defense doesn’t seem to help much, especially if you don’t finish a kill but instead protect someone else, such as a bomb runner in detonation. Yesterday I bought the Ricasso, and with just a few hours of playing, I’ve shot up 1026. In one day, my skill can’t change that fast, and I’m actually hindered by being so used to ECM. I’m activating the adaptive camo, then firing, because I’m used to the stasis generator.
I thought of a way to improve the rating. Have it amoritzed by the ship being flown. Frigates tend to get more kills per death, but if you’re below average for a frigate, your rating should be lower. It shouldn’t even be fighter/frigate/interceptor, but also the roles. How many buf assists are you getting as a command fighter, and debuf assists as ECM for instance. Some of the rating should also count your ships type vs the mission you’re playing. An interceptor should get beacons, and frigates less often. If you’re playing capture the beacons, defend or attack, not surrender. Coincidently, that’s how I found out how to get ESB to loose.
I’ve only heard “just ignore it” when talking about the rating. I searched the forum and didn’t find a thread about it. Does anyone else have other ideas?
