Pirates!

@Oryngton

From your perspective they are wrong, but for me it’s just fine.

*Contracts? - Whats wrong with them? I personally don’t like them, but its not like they would be broken or stuff…

*The ship tree dead ends? - They are meant to be that way.

*Missing ships? - What missing ships? This DLC is giving more ships, then it should be even a good thing for you, am I right?

*Frigballs? - Yes they exist, whats your point?

So if I don’t agree with you, then I pretty much dont know a thing about this game, is that what you are saying?

Overall this patch is giving us more ships, and probably it will fill the missing (in-game money) roles rank-9 tackler and recon, and similar things. Assuming that they will be available from ingame money. If not, then still more ships can’t hurt. They just provide more variety to chose from.

contracts: slow but sort of doable. they could use a small boost imo.

shiptree: yeah the dead ends suck, i totally had to buy all the emp sniperfrigs to buy a cerberus 2… still not a dealbreaker

missing ships: it would be fine if you get loot by tier (t1 experimentals when playing t2? sry no i REFUSE to play these ships), implants by tier and also passives/actives by tier, that would fix the missing ships (example: r6 guard frigate). filling this with gold ships (in this case crus Q) isn’t fine at all, it gets really close to pay to win.

frigballs: op and boring to play. they exist? well thanks they should NOT exist in the way they are right now.

what this update will likely do: add some more vastly op dlc ships and turn this game into pay to win even more. look at the superkite and compare it to the swift mk3 for instance (which is the only viable cov. ops in t2 since it recives all implants, t2 experimental loot etc.) and then tell me that this is not pay to win here. i wouldn’t mind that much if the superkite wasn’t an exact copy of the swift mk3 but just better at everything (missiles, passives, passive modules…).

…and if you take the madness of premium ammo into accont… well yes, that basicly is pay to win. Oryngton does have a valid point here.

-I might be “slightly” unfriendly here

I am starting to agree woth Oryngton…Wow…That felt weird…Saying that…

Anyway, if you think the game is fine, you clearly are not experiencing the way we are.

Contracts, loyalty income slightly too low still.

Ship tree, dead ends are NEVER A GOOD IDEA. simple as that! Unless it’s the LAST ship of the game, there should never be a dead end!

> not to mention, the lay out is COMPLETLY idiotic.

Missing ships, once again. a BAD IDEA. There should never be a spot where your ONLY possiblity to get a top-rank ship in your faction is by paying for them. That is the very meaning of P2W!

Frigballs, should get nerfed, shouldn’t be an I WIN button.

I WIN buttons ruins a game, and makes it boring and uncompetitive.

Count me in on it. I will buy the DLC, after I figure out its cost and the added benefits.

Please, let us have a FULL patch log outlining every detail.

They better have an interceptor I can use.

Actually when I think pirates, I think of the Turanic Raiders from Homeworld 2. These guys were the scariest <censored> things I have ever encountered when playing. I nearly <censored> myself.

You will have more info on the pirates with time. This was just our first announcement. Now, about other changes in the game - I would recommend you to take a look at tomorrow’s dev.blog entry, there’s going to be something interesting. And yes, some more steps are taken towards the problem of frigballs.

Offtop: the picture I quoted is very interesting, not because of the pirates themselves, but because of how that frig’s (if i’m not mistaken - Homeworld was a bit too long time ago) guns work.

…Wah!

Wouldn’t surprise me you don’t care. You’re one of the few that are already maxed out on everything.

At least show some concern about what’s wrong with the game.

Just like the every game, the people who have already reached the end, want all the others to be below them, for as long as possible…It’s the same in every game…

I ended up being the bad guy. F you all, i don’t need you (jk)

Anyway, more ships can’t be bad, right? RIGHT?

Oh yes it can…

Badly thought out ships can be VERY damaging to this game…

And honestly, looking at all their other things, i fear that it will ruin the game even further

You heard them. DLC. Means real cash to fly those ships.

Also, yes, those things are all wrong. Contracts DO NOT give enough rep, considering those 16 hour cooldowns.

Ship tree dead ends means you have to buy MORE ships to get to those you want. Ships you might NOT want in the first place. Point in case: Why do you have to buy FOUR Guards to get from the Ira Deus (LR) to the Tormentor AE (also LR), just 2 ranks ahead? Or why do you have to buy the Dwarf 2 to get to the Diamond Dwarf but don’t need the Dwarf (not to mention the Dwarf IS a dead end on itself). And many more cases…

Missing ships as in, no R9 Gunship/Tackler other than Premium ones AND no R9 Recon, either.

And yes, T3 Frigballs ARE a real issue because the usual Ceptorball counter does NOT work against it. At all.

I’m not saying not agreeing with me isn’t knowing the game, but saying there is nothing wrong DOES show that ignorance.

Anyway, more ships can’t be bad, right? RIGHT?

No, more ships isn’t a bad thing, but these are DLC (no info on free ships, iirc). You take your opinions on that. IFF these ships end up filling the missing ships in the different ranks, I’m perfectly fine with it (sort of). They do have to be free, which it seems… they’re not.

Offtop: the picture I quoted is very interesting, not because of the pirates themselves, but because of how that frig’s (if i’m not mistaken - Homeworld was a bit too long time ago) guns work.

Ion Frigates. Damn those things were op’d.

I already mentioned tackler and recon, but there is R9 gunship for in-game money - Federation

I consider it might be a DLC where you get pack of these ships, but you can get them(or others) also from IP. Thats what I am hoping for.

Well I forsee a couple of things. DLC ships and the (hopeful) inclusion on free ships. This way, this game is in no way PTW. But more of a PTGL (pay to grind less) which is fine in all aspects.

Will it fill the ship tree holes?

Will it provide interesting new game types, modules, weapons and styles of play?

Will it make or break the current balance of the game?

Time will tell in the next updates. No wonder Error was so quiet about this patch. That sly dog he is…

also for inspiration for the dreadnaughts.

I really hope I will have a Pirate guard frigate able to counter frigballz  (and ECM, because everybody hate ECM)

once i get money, i’d love to throw it at this game.

But I just fear that whenever I buy something, a patch comes that completly destroys the fun again

When can we expect the DLC? and tell me more about the coming patch I COMMAND YOU! -just kidding-

Can’t wait though ^.^

Im just gonna leave some sweet rolls. That should make the devs release it faster…

*Places sweet rolls on ground, below a box with a stick tied to a string*

*waits paitently*

Hmm. I got all excited when I read this because I thought this would add the missing ships to the tree that you can’t get without paying (the aforementioned R9 recon, R9 tackler, etc).

Then I read it’s a paid DLC. Hopes dashed.

The Wolf-M is the true definition of “Gunship”. It’s also a Glass Cannon, something the Nukem and the D-Eagle are NOT. In fact, the D-Eagle tanks MORE than my Prometheus 2. It’s absurd.

There aren’t any more holes to fill, that’s the problem, especially in R9, there’s, like… zero space left for anything and half the stuff’s still missing.

Considering how things currently are, it’s just new ships like the DLC R9 Fighters.

I’m willing to bet break. But yeah, time will tell.

YEAAAAAAAAAAH!

Where there are ships, there must be pirates…

The ship tree needs to be modified so that each race has their ‘special’ ship at the highest rank of every Tier ie Empire has R3, 6, 9 and 12 gunship, long range and recon, but no race has their secondary ship type at the highest rank of each Tier. Why? Because if you want a R9 [ship type], then you can just get one from the faction that specialises in it. The DLCs should be modified to allow each faction access to a top rank secondary for T3 (as an example).

especially in R9, there’s, like… zero space left for anything

If only we could make the ship window bigger! But that’s just madness…

Say what? A second ago we were discusing the ship holes R-6 guard, R-9 recon & tackler…

Or are you talking about visual ship grid? Because you should know, that changing that, or adding additional lines is not a real issue. Maybe the pirate ships will be in a totaly new faction, we dont have conformation of that yet. They already gave us what look like subfactions “privateers” and “shadows”.

Ship holes as in you don’t have that faction’s main ships in the top ranks. Ie, you have no R9 sniper in Empire, you have no R9 Engineer in Federation (iirc, the Anaconda-M is a Guard), you have no R6 Guard in Jericho… and so forth… Those are the “holes” I’m talking about.

hehe it is! Only a madman would think of such a simple solution!
