Other games to play

What is this misterious ‘SE’ everyone mentions? Someone type the full name, can’t find it or i’m too dumb to see it  :dntknw:

Sounds like something i wanna try out.

Space Engineers

Space Engineers

Minecraft in space.

Dude, it LOOKS better than Starmade, it also looks to handle a lot better, too. I’m trying it out as soon as I get home.

Compare. Situation: You’re using something from a game, it can even be as simple as a name of an important character or even a model. For non-profit purposes. And you say it’s from there.

I definitely like it more than starmade, have both and only played it shortly, before it bugged out and crashed. engineers basicly didnt crash since i patched it to use more ram (like described in the forums), except being alt tabbed.

So most of the crashing happens ingame, that part is pretty fun atm. too, Havoc engine finally put to good use.

I think it’s a hard line to draw - but since it’s not the original files distributed, just a facsimile calculated to have a similar shape as the original - I doubt they could say anything anyway against SE itself, that’s what I meant; it’s user created content; you might even argue it’s artistic. They would have to go against the user who actually uses the tool for conversion and distributes it. No original files get used in the game, nor is it the same data in a different format.

Now Blizzard really does that a lot, you are right, I can remember how many emulators they shut down (bnet emu, wow emus) back in the day, or how they tried to discourage “FreeCraft”, and how they cry if you use files directly or indirectly. What the tool owners could perfectly do is distribute the converter, where every game-owner can do it himself anyway, but yeah, as you say, CCP is so much different in their philosophy, also how much pain they went through to establish themselves as a stable company with a successful title.

Since the emus however (as tool) allowed you to play the game outside of the control of Blizzard, it was vulnerable to laws, all those projects basicly got shot down by a letter. FreeCraft on the other hand allowed you to use warcraft 2 sprites if you owned the game, but they could not distribute it, so blizzard targeted the title of the project. And since nobody remembers whatsitcalled-now, the project pretty much died.

I was amazed about Dota2 getting away with the clearly “inspired” models in their game tho

Since I was curious about the Tribes Engine, and googled it, I found this nice timeline on wikimedia with all the FPS chronologically.

servers are up.

Synergy boost changes…very interesting!

That’s a nice find

I always preferred Unreal and Cry Engine. Still do. I just feel them to be more dynamic. Anything i’m missing?

Not only did CCP manage to rise in power, they have surpassed Blizzard in almost everything. They have, not one, but TWO supercomputers running both EvE servers (and planning on a possible 3rd) and Dust 514. That alone surpasses anything Blizzard has accomplished, imo…

Not really. Blizzard doesn’t need supercomputers for servers, since WoW has a lot of different realms, not a single permament world.

They have different architectures.

And Blizzard customer assistance is light years better than CCP.

I have all blizzard games, and while I don’t consider myself a fanboy, I think is one of the best gaming companies out there. With its faults and mistakes. But overall, I’m a satisfied customer.

I have never had a problem with CCP customer service. Sure sometimes petitions are a bit slow, but important things get quick reactions.(character scams wil get a way quicker response than ship reimbursement for example)

Being dumb and being slow are two VERY different things…

Who cares, Blizzard assistance is fast and good. CCP is slow, and not that good. (not bad, but still)

BOTH are good. Excellent, even. From personal experience, multiple times, in my case.

Blizzard support are complete dicks and idiots. They don’t know the first thing about their own games, they’ll close tickets without even giving you the chance to answer back and will just leave you waiting for a few hours, if not days, for an actual answer given by someone else in the team because the other guy ended his shift…

CCP support know exactly what they’re doing. Sometimes, they’ll even take their work home with them, to keep assisting you in any possible way. They know EXACTLY what they’re doing, know exactly what your problem is and how to fix it and, if they don’t know the issue, they’ll route you to someone who does.

In short, I’d rather have slow and perfect, rather than fast and sloppy.

Don’t forget, the CCP GM’s will escalate if you ask. If you feel like the current GM is unfairly treating you or making a wrong decision, you can ask to escalate it so a higher-ranked GM will look into the matter and might decide differently.

I never played a blizzard game, so can’t say anything about their support.(5 minutes of wow before calling: I am not wasting money on this xxxx)

Maybe in your country the company responsible of blizzard support is sloppy. Here in mine, you can call by phone for free, and they will solve the problem in seconds. Even once they unstuck my character 3 AM in the morning after 10 mins of sending the ticket.

CCP, while good, is too slow for my tastes. They solve the problem, but most of the time it will take days.

Little does everyone know is that I’m a professional Driving Simulator Driver.

Racing games are my forte and my life. I started playing them since playstation one and the first grand turismo.

Now, those racing games are a bit…I dunno, stale? Nothing new is out or no new features are out that make it fun anymore. There were simulators that you controlled EVERYTHING, but people found it to complex and dumbed it down. LAME.

That’s the “Casual Player Syndrome” affecting every single game. Then later they ask why people hate them, lol. I’ve seen plenty of franchises dying thanks to their publishers forcing the devs to appeal the casuals with simpler and easier games in order to sell more, it’s really sad.

My father played blur for 5 minutes, got up, and put it back into the case, and proceded to throw it into the trash.

F1 2013 is only viable with a racing wheel. ( which I have)

A gamepad is just as good, tbh… It took me a while, fiddling with the controls but, in the end, I got a hold of it. Only to spin like a xxxx and ragequit.
