option to exclude servers from being put on

So far all servers/regions I play (AS, EU, US) on are fine except the Russian servers.

They have a ping of at least 250ms and usually lag and sometimes have even packet loss for me.

I know you can define a region where you want to play but I don’t want to limit my choices that much or want wait an hour for a match. Sometimes that region setting seems to be ignored.

So this suggestion is to under no circumstance to be put on the selected servers.

I queue for US, and get Russian with triple the ping.

I queue for US, and get Asian with quintuple the ping.

I don’t know the physical location of the Asian server, but I’ve been on it once and that was enough.  Anyway, queue for your best server.  You won’t stay on it but you’ll be on it more often.

We really need an option to discriminate servers, I don’t want to play in certain ones, NEVER, but the game sends me there nonetheless.

Depends. I live in middle EU and eu servers have terribad pings while i can play fantastic on US serv. RU is random, SA is awfull for anyone arent asian.

I like this idea alot!

I agree with your suggestion for 2 servers/regions but the problem with the Russian servers is probably on your end because when the game puts me on the Russian server my ping to it is 30 to 50 miliseconds. The same applies to the EU server. Only Asian and US servers run at 150+ ms.

That is because you live somewhere else. Not all players are in Europe and Russia. I have for Asian and US servers a ping below 100ms, so maybe something with your connection ;)wt

Maybe. But there’s a big difference between 150 and 250 ms.

Not in PvE, it doesn’t.

In PvE, where you can’t die (unless you suck), the ping doesn’t matter at all… Well, sometimes it can bother a little, but nothing else. The big problem comes in PvP (the actual and real content of the game) where if you play with 250 ms against someone with 50 ms you’re with a big handicap.

Yeah, true diference from 150ms to 250ms, if suddenly my 350ms perma latency dropped miraculously to 150ms i would be more than happy, i would be completelly amazed, but then i would acuse the devs of witchcraft and burn them in a pyre, cause thats not going to happen.

Btw: PVE SUX, you only die if you queue alone, and get a bunch of n00bs as teammates. Unless you are on a T3 prem gunship queueing in T1 blackwood, then you can roflstomp all three stages all by yourself.

Regarding the main topic subject, AGREED!! I NEVER want to play on EU servers (most of the times huge ping, huge packet loss) SOMETIMES i dont want to play on russian servers, too laggy and packet loss sometimes, and i ABSOLUTELLY WITH ALL THE HATRED OF MY SOUL dont want to play on god forsaken asian servers where all the problems are combined in a huge laggy experience.

i want to have a checkbox list of regions and just tick them and be done with it!

it’s not in the options.

This should be implemented.

I’m basing my argument on logic:

  • many if not most players do have good latency / ping to more than just one server. Internet is just such in its form, cannot be helped.

  • many if not all players do have a server or servers where they will surely have poor latency / ping. Internet is just such in its form, cannot be helped.

  • If player can only select just one server to queue to, it is wasting the option of offering a game in the other server(s) where player also would have good ping / latency by his experience.

=> The logic how player selects server(s) to play should be a check-box selection or equivalent. It is more important to be able to exclude unplayable server(s), than just to select one preferred one while multiple would work and make better gaming experience.

Please, implement this.

i agree to your logic.

but in ticking the servers which i want to be placed on, instead of ticking which i want to be excluded from, i see better usability for the general public.

+1 for the whole idea tho. it was anyway already suggested a lot of times in patch discussions. definitely a very important improvement.

Yes. My point was to wake up those whom doubt this major (but easy to implement) feature request into realizing what this request is about: Really it is not about “selecting your favorite servers”, but more about “I want better playing experience by not being forced to play in certain servers due to pad ping / latency experiences I have had every time in those severs, while still being able to play in all other suitable servers”.

The UI doesn’t matter which way it is done, as long as it is done.

Oh, yeah, one important point:

This feature became even more needed, as new map with warp gates is right now being introduced: being able to play in servers that have good ping is even more important (without hindering own options of getting a game due to queuing only to one server).

Static warp gates and bad ping / latency result in not fun games. This requested feature would help in that.

option to exclude a region would be nice… RU servers i get 100 ping which i don’t mind but then i start rubber banding some games… on US and SA servers which have much higher ping I do not get this problem. why russia why?
