Hey instead of doing several small maps, what about making one large region like map, that has several star systems, and you can fly from planet to planet…

Well at the moment the open world system is far away in the stars.
To be quite honest, that will take a lot of work. I mean, look at EVE Online… the game runs on like 6 super computers. That being said, the game goes down for maintenance every single day for like 5 hours.
