I’m a huge Mass Effect fan, and for a possible new gun I was thinking something like this:

It would be a large constant firing laser, that would shoot only in line with your ship, as opposed to the current laser guns which can be aimed in directions contrary to the direction of your ship. Would have more range too? Might be redundant, but just throwing it out there.
Switch the disintegrator for this and it would be cool.
Still wish they would add Freespace 2 beam cannon, or better yet turn the pulsar into the smaller 3 shot anti ship beam cannon.

Yeah I was sort of thinking of that. I guess my suggestion was sort of a combo of the Disintegrator and the Assault lasers-- a constant beam, but aimed only in the direction of your ship, and for the F ability. For anyone who can’t get enough lasers.
