ohrmehr gawd dont make common premiums…i’ll help out with modeling for free, just dont do that and throw different paintjob and call it premium…
Year of farming and I’m gonna have one of these beauties!
just not more maulers
Personally, I’m still hoping for a ship designed along the Vertical axis. Ex: Black Prophecy’s Genide ships. Or Freelancer’s Bounty Hunter Guild ships.
Bonus points if it’s a Tackler. :fed001:
Up and down is what you make of it in space.
Jokes aside, bear is vertical. It just looks like it has a worm infested bloated stomach.
BTW thanks for the post, I don’t check FB all too often.
9 of those will probably be set up similar to how current premium ships are in Tiers 1-4. Ex: Premium T5 Empire LRF based on generic model of the Archdragon with fancy premium skin. 3 for Jericho, 3 for Fed, and 3 for Empire, each based on their specific role focus.
The remaining 3 will be these unusual ‘crafted’ ships that occupy odd spots in the ship tree and have unique visual appearances, similar to the Bear, Dragonfly, and Desert Eagle.
So, sadly, I doubt all 12 will look as epic as these three.
More premium T5, aslast I emoticon
I love the idea of craftable T5. Players who have those deserve them. I just am not a big fan of needed to pay for T5 ships. A rank 13 that is better than the R14 doesn’t seam correct to me.
Then again there are some R12 that are better than R14 ships. Jericos CO basically has an addition ammunition, and CPU slot…
There’s a ship in this game called the Bear.
I just took another look at some of these ships, and I think the developers took inspiration from Black Prophecy for both the Bear and the Desert Eagle.
The Bear has rounded features and is built Vertically rather than Horizontally much like a Genide ship.
The Desert Eagle has blocky features and two large mandibles extending forward past the cockpit. Much like a Tyi Ship.
Also, I was studying the ship tree a bit more and I’m going to go ahead and predict that these 3 craftable ships will fill the secondary roles of their given factions.
The theme is there throughout the entire ship tree.
Special ships in faction secondary roles:
Loki- Empire Command
Grim- Empire ECM
Shark- Empire Command
Phoenix- Empire Engineer
Reaper- Federation Guard
Joker- Federation Gunship
Sai- Federation Recon
Razor- Jericho Tackler
Priest Bartle- Jericho LRF
Cutter- Jericho Covert Ops
Sawtooth- Jericho Tackler
Mauler- Jericho LRF
Total = 12
Special ships in faction primary roles:
Wasp- Empire Recon
Desert Eagle- Empire Gunship
Superkite- Federation Covert Ops
Bear- Federation Tackler
Dragonfly- Jericho Command
Blood Tormentor- Jericho Guard
Total = 6
Therefore I predict these three craftable ships will be a Guard, Command, and Covert Ops.
Yeah, they should be the secondary role. But rank 13 like mauler. R15 wouldn’t be fair as it’s the max rank, but with a secondary role.

You might actually be right about that. The Mauler is a LRF which is not the primary role for Jericho, so it is possible these ships will only be Rank 13.
Then again, why wouldn’t it be fair? If anyone can craft them, why shouldn’t they be max rank?
It’s not fair Faction speaking.
R15 is supposed to be the must in term of technology that only the faction who is specialized in should be able to achieve.
And they remain premiums ships. I pretty sure that there’ll still be the option “Buy for gold” because the craft will take weeks of farming.
Btw if I’m true, they’ll maybe make the mauler craftable too.
Don’t forget the fact that the devs may surprise us and kick us completely new game systems on our heads.
Just wait few hours and read the patch notes.
Profit.
There are rumours that the 3 craftable ships are their own new class.

This is true. The INN update over in Russia-land mentioned something about Tier 6 and some fuzzy words about “Biomorph-shredders”.
BTW, does anyone else have guesses as to what these ships will be named?
capnnic suggested “Wyvern” for the Imperial Fighter.
Perhaps “Scythe” for the Jeri Interceptor (since they seem fond of blades) and “Diamondback” for the Fed Frig (since Fed seems to like reptile names for their frigates)?

I saw their names long time ago but it’s a secret
I can only say that they’re good names.

Octopus is a good name? I am disappointed.
Also, I was completely wrong about the ship classes. :fed014:

Of course you were. Whatever you thought was always going to be better than what we actually got.
Seriously though, who is in charge of the naming conventions of this game?
Empire
Hercules - Greek hero and demi-God.
Deimos / Phobos - Greek Gods of fear and terror. Keep to the theme on two counts; Greek, and divinity.
Prometheus - Greek Titan who stole fire from the Olympian Gods. Keeps the theme.
Castor / Spartacus / Argonaut - Castor was a Greco-Roman God, one of the Gemini. It fits… I guess. Spartacus is a figure of Roman history, not mythology. Mortal. Not a good fit, but still the same kind of period. The Argonauts were mortals but still central to Greek mythology. So T4 flails a bit, but it works.
Apollo / Aura / Lightbringer - Apollo fits. Aura doesn’t. At all. It would if you renamed it “Apollo Aura” though. Lightbringer… again, it just about fits, but it would fit better if prefixed. But we can live with this.
Mjolnir - A weapon wielded by the Norse God, Thor.
,what? Why are we in Norse mythology all of a sudden? You could have called it the Ares,Hades, Zeus or any number of other possible names! If we have the Spartacus, why not the Leonidas? Why not Achilles? Or Caesar?
Naming convention has gone out of the window. And it’s hardly the worst case of that…
Jericho
Dagger - self explanatory.
Stiletto - a type of dagger.
Kris - another type of dagger, but with a more eastern spin.
Nodachi - a bloody huge sword. Kind of a silly name for a tiny interceptor, but I guess you can only call something a dagger so often. Also continues to move the names east.
Wagizashi - An eastern short sword.
Caltrop - A couple of metal nails welded together so they point up. I guess all the other cool weapon names were taken, huh? No Zanmato, or Masamune? Hell, you could call it a tanto and that way you’d have the full set of japanese swords!
But even this pales in comparison to the glorious lack of thought that is the Federation ship tree!
Federation
Raptor - Means “Bird of Prey”. Also used as short hand for velociraptor, a dinosaur.
Alligator - A log that eats people. Practically a dinosaur given how little they have changed.
Anaconda - A bloody huge snake. Not a dinosaur, but it is a kind of reptile.
Grizzly - A bear. Wait, we’ve jumped from dinosaurs to bears all of a sudden?
Osprey / T-Rex - Osprey is a bird, and a “raptor” at that, so maybe that fits with Raptor? But it doesn’t fit with anyone else! T-Rex? Well now that doesn’t fit because we’ve just established “Raptor” back in T1 meant the bird species, because if it doesn’t then the Osprey doesn’t fit!
Octopus - what the xxxx guys!? An Octopus? That’s the scariest animal you can think of? Look, I know that having a Squid drop on your head in minecraft is a sure-fire way to void your bowels, but an Octopus? When you had all those other possible animals and dinosaurs and birds to choose from you went with something that isn’t just non-threatening, is a bloody type of food! Why not just call it a chicken? At least then it would fit with part of your naming convention!

Well, Mjolnir fits with the interceptor line names. They are all based in nordic mythology.
Concerning Octopus, maybe Kraken would be better. But anyway, you underestimate the Octopus. It is one of the most inteligent invertebrates, and quite a deadly predator.
It is like saying than a Shark is just food because we can fish them…
The only problem I see with the Octopus name, is that the salvo missile for frigates already has that name.
The Empire inty line was a lot stronger when “Elf” was part of it. Storm doesn’t fit.
Dvergr (Norse Dwarf), Dwarf, Elf, Nibelung (Dwarf nobility) and then… Viking? Vikings are mythological now? Mjolnir is part of the right cosmology, but it’s a weapon - the rest are races (well, one’s a social class… but it’s a social class of a mythical species!).
It strikes me that when the game was made there was a fairly solid pattern in naming conventions for the most part. However, new ships and renaming of old ones has utterly missed the point. It’s gone from “let’s have a clear theme for each ship class” to “let’s pick something that sounds cool!”
I for one was always for renaming the Wakizashi-R (or whichever name the COps has) to Shuriken would fit that ship, and make it less confusing; same to the katana line, but well we live with it.
It kinda is also disappointing, that while you use a Katana in T3, you only get the Wakizashi in T5, making them appear together nearly impossible.
But I think Ares, Hades, etc. would have been really nice in the empire line;
Lightbringer however is a biblical term (Lucifer), but at least, it is kinda related.
I don’t care if it is mixed up a bit. No problem with that. I mean, in real life, corporations build those ships for the state, and it gets a serial number in its respected military, and the nicknames are not all of the same mythology either.
Even tho, I find the naming of the secret projects was indeed a bit uncreative.
Especially since Octopus is already taken by the missile system. They should have named it Triceratops. Would even make sense with the design.
And who does not love the triceratops anyway
According to the concept art, Triceratops was the original name of the Anaconda.
Maybe we can waste our time on a ‘translation thread’ to petition better English-localisation of ship names.
Octopus is a good name? I am disappointed.
Also, I was completely wrong about the ship classes. :fed014:
Actually, the good names I meant went to the “normal” T5 premiums.

BA-ha-ha-HA! :00555:
No, seriously, I’m laughing.
Well, it looks like I’m going to continue my slow grind up the last little bit of synergy for my T4 Griz Mk2 so I can get Rank 14 with Fed. Then I’m gonna sit there and hoard my Alien Crystals in the hope that some day in the far-flung future the Federation gets a craftable Tackler that I can spend it all on.
And hopefully it has a cooler name than ‘Sushi’.
