New Modules

So, with the introduction of 0.9.0, we need some more variation in weapons and modules, here are some suggestions:

 

Warp Gun

Module

Class: Engineer

Description: Fires a warp gate at enemies, warping them 5000 meters in whichever direction they are facing when hit.

 

Space Tornado

Combo Move

Class: Interceptor

Description: Five allied interceptors start flying in a circle repeatedly, and it builds up into a space tornado, sucking in enemies and crushing their ships.

 

Laser Lasso

Module

Class: Guard

Description: Wrangles enemy ships with a laser lasso, entangling them and overpowering their ship abilities. The enemy ship is now attached for 3 minutes to a ‘laser lasso’ behind the Guard, whom can crush them by swinging them into asteroids.

 

Dark Matter Saw

Combo Move

Class: Engineer/Covert Ops

Description: By teaming up the warp gate, and the plasma arc, you can force enemy ships at warp speeds through your plasma arc, effectively cutting the ship in half and destroying that ship for the remainder of the match, and forcing the player to fully repair it.

 

Docking ** Maneuvers**

Combo Move

Class: Frigate/Interceptors

Description: Allow two ships to dock together, effectively turning them into one bigger ship. i.e. An engineer that flies around at interceptor speeds, healing everyone and ECMing everyone.

 

Space Crabs

Module

Class: Recon

Description: Infect the pilot of a ship with space crabs, not allowing them to reproduce, and effectively ending their blood line.

 

Regression Laser

Module

Class: Long Range

Description: When activated, the next sniper shot or rocket reduces the rank of the player by one permanently. If you are knocked down too many ranks to pilot your current ship, you are disconnected from the game, and forced to re-grind your way back up in ranks to use that ship again.

 

These ideas are totally awesome, and should be implemented in the next patch, thanks.

The Warp Gun needs a short range, maybe 500 meters I think to Balance it out. Also, what kind of cooldown were you thinking of having for this module?

True, this would make it effective. I think there should be no cooldown, and it would just be your main weapon. It wouldn’t do any damage, but you could repeatedly warp people into asteroids. Making killing people more of a challenge.

Also, a new module I came up with just now:

 

Space Whales

Module

Class: Gunship

Description: Releases a horde of space whales unto your enemy. They eat the ship, but because their stomachs can’t process metal (Those silly, silly whales!) they are forced to blow them out of their blowhole at warp speed. But the speed is so quick, you go off the map and end up in another battle.

See the way to balance it all out is to make sure that all of these abilities don’t have a cool down. That way everyone can just spam it and nobody can complain.

I think that works. The Space Dolphins module could be the counter to the Space Whales module. They would duel in the middle of space, and the winner gets all the fish.

What he is talking about is a kind of infestation, where the ship spreads it amongst other ships. To balance this out, it will also have a chance to spread to allied ships. Obviously by reproduce he is saying that you cannot respawn any further and as the infestation spreads you start losing your ships.

And Sunder, Space Crabs don’t end a blood line. The crabs just spread from pilot to pilot till everyone starts waxing and they die out once more.(Funnily enough, that is what is happening in the world currently)

Description: To use this module, you have to deploy, making your ship immobile and invulnerable. It allows you to mine the asteroids for real life minerals. You can mine large chunks of iron ore, copper ore, and if you’re lucky enough, gold ore. Then after the mission, the real life amounts that you just mined are mailed to your front door.

Though that is a good suggestion for mid-90’s rap, I think it would be more balanced in the game if they went with this selection:

 

Warp cannon could be only real one, but it could cause instadeath by warping someone in asteroid. No module should be able to insta kill someone (i think). Only practical use would be to get someone enemy closer to your group for focus fire, but 500m isnt that much in this case. Maybe module, that pulls enemy ship closer your ship(probably frigate module only) would be more effective.
