New icons are bad

g4borg: no, no, pls. think again, how would you make your decision to equip your ship with best available module? take 3 of these and you get +9% synergy - that’s not nothing …

The syn bonuses do not stack. I fitted my naga with all paid modules each one supposed to get 3%. I filed a support claim to find out later they dont stack.

I wanted my money back, but of course no luck there.

Just thought you should know. I doubt they changed it.

at least leave an option for users to use old icons or new icons. maybe new players like the new ones and you found some trend or statistic to make the decision to change them, but not us long time players. there are more people who would be in here to agree with this but they’re too lazy to go in the forum like i was lol until a link was posted in chat to get me to say something.

They do stack, just remember they are additive, not multiplicative. Now, please get back to the topic ![:)](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/001j.png “:)”)

i am talking about the BATTLE HUD. I do not make any fitting decisions anymore in battle!

the icons are totally unimportant while fitting anyway, because they are labeled.

so in battle, the star is totally unimportant ![:)](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/001j.png “:)”)

the only improvement was the color of the module indicating its primary mechanic, but the bad resolution mono color hieroglyph keeps you wondering what module you just pressed.

if he expects to get 3% for each, i think he did expect additive, anyway, for 3% it does not make that much difference (at a max of 14 modules it would be 51% increase vs. 42%)

question is where did he find out they dont stack

… ahh - ok - got you now !

… found out? maybe only expected greater impact?

Why no poll about icones?

I prefer old ones.

Much better clear logical and so on.

About how new icones look just this  ![:beee:](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/beee.gif “:beee:”)

The old icons made it pretty clear, what the item does, but the new ones just look way better (inner conflict).

Ok I’ve waited a few days before commenting on this subject to see if I could get used to them but I simply can’t. I have to agree with the vast majority of players that these new icons are terrible & totally unintuitive please give us the old ones back with the option to use either the old style or new style from within the options menu we don’t mind the extra game file size to have both sets of icons. However I think the vast majority of players will instantly switch back to the old style even after they have had time to get used to the new ones.

Just give it some time and you’ll get used to them. Works for me at least ![;)](<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/002.png “;)”)

Getting used to them is only half the battle because the combination of whit on someother bright color makes them damn near impossible to clearly make out even on a HD monitor, and the just knowing what effects you are is still really hard as the icon is really small.

if we talk icons dont forget there are two different approaches now, the more realistic looking passives, and the more flat icon style on the actives

i can see they made an effort

the color coding isnt even a bad idea

and generally flat icons would work maybe, but they are waaaaaay to complicated, and maybe they should at least some colors

with the passives, i am unsure why all e.g. resists now look a bit different, and you cant see the resist type, it was way nicer to have a shield in the color of the damage it absorbs.

The best thing would be that we all have the option to choose between this and what we had before.

i dont think they want to maintain two sets however. adding new icons will be double the work.

Support. Neither 42% or 51%. You can only get 3% from what I was told. So save your money for other things. We all know once they nerf something they don’t unnerf it.

Now Let’s hope they allow us the option to switch these module icons back to what they were. I think the best idea we have is to allow both, because surely some are gonna like the new ones, and allow us vet to have our cake and eat it too.

I think the best place for this option would be in game menu by where ship controls expert and bacis is. Option should be as follows. Active module icon/ Legacy or Default.

Seems like the easiest way to execute it and make everyone happy.

3% per module - it is true. Of the base synergy gain - every module modifier works on base values. And 42% of base synergy gain is correct for most ships.

They look ugly. Either make them slightly bigger or draw them in vector otherwise they wont be very visible.

Icons change is completely disorienting and doesn’t bring anything positive to the game.

Please revert it or at least provide the option to use old icons

  • active module look horrible. basically squiggly lines on a solid background

  • passives don’t look very distinguishable at that small size… texture detail gets lost when its shown at that small size on ship slots

I’d get it if they looked better than before. but they don’t, honestly. New Icons are the only thing I hate about this new update

agreed, i hate those new icons too. In fact almost everyone that i talked to hates them!

Even now that I know most of them, I try to memorize each number instead of visual perks.
