The last tournament showed the lack of competitive maps (maps good for tournaments). While Iridium Strand is a symmetric map and good for competitions like tournaments/esports the map is fairly big and not well suited for all game modes and team sizes.
Please add a couple maps that are smaller than Iridium Strand and also symmetric (or can be made that way). You had a map contest a year ago and only added one map. Aren’t there more maps from that contest that can be used?
The competitive maps don’t need to be all build out and pretty as the others or maybe not right away. You could do a version 1 where its functional and then version 2 where it is all made pretty.
This/these map(s) could be in permanent daily map rotation in PvP Skirmish.
I want a map like in Freelancer, full of green mist (may kill the graphics cards, especially calculating the shadows on the mist) and sharp, long objects. May be complete with moving hazard zones (so not a star-like stuff that radiates but a moving white mist that particularly likes to accompany frigballs).
I want an indoors map, where your guided torp can barely make the turns, and you have to slow down with your Jerry guard if you want to avoid contact with the walls in a cross. It would be a 3D “maze” (not so complicated, but still, maze-like), like in Descent but obviously smaller, less complicated.

Totally support this kind of “indoor” map. I love Descent to, my first spaceship game :salute:
But that won’t be competitive at all as it will remove the efficiency of some ships, just like deathmatch mode remove it from some roles.
Different ships have different efficiency in different modes and on different maps. That is normal.
As long as it’s not gamebreaking for those role (like taking a long range indoor without long enough room to use “long range” module), I’m ok with that

Here’s an idea for a map, just make a long hallway about 10,000 M long. No cover or anything, just some confetti falling triumphantly over all of the proud little LRF ships for finally having a map that they are useful for.

Reminds me of that CS map, no cover, no nothing just the two teams spawning across the map with awps on the ground.

I don’t think a no cover map works especially on PVP Skirmish as you don’t know ahead of time to bring your LRF.
A no cover map also makes the match less interesting than I you have some kind of cover.
How about making an arena for tournaments, or for tutorials? Like a circle with some structures where you could cover, etc. Just a regular arena without any story.
