The game should have build-in system, where user can easily switch between different group of ships that he wants to fly.
Now lot of manual work is required, if player wants to change from his “grind” ships e.g. to full premium ship fleet, or he could have separate “playing for fun” set of four ships that he wants to switch to.
There should be an UI control to save multiple setups of pre-set ships, and with click of a mouse button you could switch from saved setup of 1-4 selected ships in hangar to other saved setup of 1-4 selected ships in hangar , without too much of manual work.
Difficult part of this could be the ship modules: Can user even adjust different module setups for these pre-saved ship setups e.g. same ship in different setup has different modules, which game automatically switches when the setup is selected or not. Different solutions even for this can be imagined (modules are not considered / modules are always unloaded to warehouse and re-loaded when new fleet is selected / if same ship is in multiple “fleet setups”, module changes in one setup also affect the other setup).
And risk the game getting MORE complicated? Are you sure about this?
This feature would actually add nothing “new” to the game, as players are free to manually remove and place new ships to their hangar already. Thus the feature already exists, it is only cumbersome to use:
Rigth click -> click remove ship from hangar
x3-4 for each ship
Left click empty ship spot -> browse ship from 3 tabbed faction list (multiple clicks) and click the ship you want
x3-4 for each ship
(This example is assuming that modules are already equipped in mentioned ships, add a lot more clicks if extending this support for module setups also)
This feature request only would add an UI layer for this, that would automate above mentioned actions, without adding actually any new functionality that isn’t already possible in the system.

Basically, you can hire a “quartermaster” to equip your ships instantly, so that ships different ships can share modules so long as they are not being used at the same time. Create a profile (equipment package) and save it for use later.
Actually I wouldn’t mind an option to “save” your module layout for easier quick swapping. This way you have have multiple weapon/module combinations you can choose from to use on the fly as long as the appropriate weapon or module is not equipped on another ship. A great comparison would be the multiple Mastery pages you can have in LoL.
So you’re flying your command with bubble guns and have your modules setup for hit and run tactics (dmg/speed/survival modules) but in the past few matches, games have been on huge open maps where you can’t close the distance under cover and have to expose yourself to fire 4-5k out? Too easy…swap to your Ion Emitter/Gauss build that’s built for durability and long range combat without having to manually change out the modules and weapons for the next game.
Another great example would be if you’re like me, you only buy enough modules/weapons to fit 4 ships at once. If I’m getting tired of playing my recon and want to play my cov ops I have to unequip everything and reequip it all on the new ship one module at a time if I also have my ECM in at the same time. Life would be so much easier to right click > unequip all modules on the recon, put my other ship in and right click > saved layouts > CO Shrapnel build or CO Pulse Laser build and well what do you know a fully equipped ship ready to fly in 5 seconds.

I don’t think swapping out setups while in a match would be possible…it seems like a great idea but it would take away that element of surprise of not knowing which map/ game mode you’ll be playing as well as requiring a bunch of programming on the developers part. It would be much easier for them to just add the option to swap while in the hangar.
Now that there is going to be (again) separate play queues, this suggestion becomes in my opinion even more valid;
People would want to have separate line-up for regular PVP games, and separate line-up for corporation Sector Conquest.
This could be made easier with system, which enables you to have easy access to pre-selected and pre-defined ship setup(s) when switching between these two modes.

So I would say the same - need a bigger hangar (visual) where i can easily select the ships set up already for different uses.
EG: One for PVE, one for T5 pvp, T4 pvp, T3 pvp. And one just because. Or some ppl can then set up their ships from T1 - T5 that way.
So then if we have 5 different hanger options i do not have to go and remember which ship on T3 is set up and ready to rumble when someone calls me to play T3 squad. It is a pain perhaps I have too many ships…
Don’t wanna compare to War Thunder but hey it is a good setup - u can switch between hangers easily.

A very nice idea. Exactly what I have in mind and was on my list for my next batch of suggestions.
It’s like having different ship line ups for appropriate situations. I do have different ship line ups when I would go for PVE. I would also want a different line up for PVP for different tiers and a separate line up for sector conquest. It would be nice if I can set them all up one time and then easily switch between those line ups.
Having a list of ship selections is surely too much and would not really help or make the game weirdly complicated.
However a simple way would be to have 5-6 buttons. T1, T2, T3, T4, T5 and maybe a SQ/mixed. Where the game simply saves the last T1-T5 selection before changing to another tier.
it would not allow for multiple saved lists in one tier but for only 6 different selections.
