So I was thinking it’d be cool to see ships of pants-soiling size duking it out, so big that they would need to go full broadside to bring all of their guns to bear. So the four classes I propose are:
Cruiser – a fast independent warship. Traditionally, cruisers were the smallest warships capable of independent action.
Destroyer – a fast and highly maneuverable warship, traditionally incapable of independent action.
Battlecruiser – a ship with battleship level armament and cruiser level armor; typically faster than a battleship because the reduction in armor allowed mounting of heavier propulsion machinery.
Battleship – a large, heavily-armoured and heavily-gunned warship. A term which generally post-dates sailing warships.
A. this is probably the logical hierarchy of ships anyway and if new ship classes were implemented these would probably be the types regardless of anyone’s suggestions.
B. T5 ships are to be released when the game leaves beta with no plans for additional classes as far as we’re aware.
C. Dreadnoughts are to be implemented sometime in the future for Corps (in what capacity hasn’t really been revealed)
D. What you have outlined amounts to potentially years of development and re-balancing.
Basically what I was thinking was that these would be absolutely massive, which makes them rather difficult to destroy, but this also proves their downfall. It’d be hard to impossible for a battleship to target a fighter, as their weapons are geared to destroy other ships like it. But imagine two battleships going in for multiple full broadside passes, in a dance of death and skill.
