Modules to rebalance T1 / T2

Interceptors reign supreme in the early Tiers; they are too fast for anyone else to catch, able to disappear and reappear at will, and can deal out a disproportionately high level of damage. One Interceptor, especially in matches like Domination or Combat Reconnaissance, can turn the tide of the game far more swiftly than any other class.

 

As such, the following are intended as modules designed to provide new options to each tier of ship. These options are not meant to be auto-win tools, nor are they solely geared versus Interceptors, but they are intended to rebalance the situation and ensure that ships other than Tacklers can deny the Interceptors and either destroy them, or else force them to retreat for long enough that a proper defense can be mounted.

 

Minesweeper [Recon]:

The Minesweeper module is active for x seconds. During this period, the Recon Interceptor becomes immune to damage caused by Mines. The module should have a short duration and a long cooldown.

Design Thoughts: One of the nastier tactics open to the Interceptor is the ability to fly in and seed a location with mines. The Minesweeper is the polar opposite, allowing a Recon to buzz a location and clear out static defences prior to the main push. This also means deployment of mines has to be more carefully thought out - they will still damage non-Recons, or the Recon itself if the mines run dry, but simply spamming mines at every beacon is no-longer a valid option.

 

Auto-turret Drone [Gunship]:

Deploys a small remote drone that is active for x seconds. Drone is equipped with an assault laser (same Mk as the module). Turrets tracks and fires at whichever ship the Gunship is locked onto.

Design Thoughts: This not only ups the raw killing power of the Gunship (not a bad thing in my mind - it is pretty much useless once Overdrive shuts down) but it can inflict low, but continuous damage to an enemy hostile regardless of their evasive actions. The only option is to retreat out of range or line of sight until the Drone shuts down again.

 

–name pending-- [Engineer]:

Module prevents targeted ship from capturing beacons or picking up EMP bombs for x seconds. It cannot be used on a shop that is already capturing or carrying the bomb.

Mines are static in space, they only activate whey you fly into them.So dont fly into them… you can capture beacon from few hundred meters range, outside the mine range.Sometime is hard to gues what is the mine range is and they shud be more visiable, like fast flashing red dot.

Gunships already do god mode damage on top of that there is already a sentry drone for tacklers that is a little underwhelming. The mine sweeper ability has already been brought up in another post.

Its a 700M range roughly, which is why I place my mines 300m from the beacon…
