Everyone and his brother wants to be able to find Mk3 upgrade kits in PvP/PvE loot, so why not just go ahead and make it happen? Everyone would love it if you did.

About this one, it is just an economic bottleneck, so people with little time will spend GS and people with time or not in a hurry will just grind the vouchers.
If you introduce blue upgrade kits, people will stop buying blues with gs.
Nobody but those few billionaires out there that have cash to burn pay GS for simple upgrades. And the grind for T4-T5 Mk3s is insane.

While I agree with you that Jason uses a very, very loose meaning for P2W, it is a rather tight bottleneck that really makes little sense. Reaching the highest level
should be the most difficult. Most of the time when I finally reach MK3 I can instantly upgrade it to MK4.
I would be all for MK2 and MK3 qualification being reversed and adjusted with
no MK2 drops and upgrade with loyalty,
and have some MK3 drops with the same frequency as
MK4 and upgrade with vouchers rather than loyalty.
I would think this would lead to a more even progression.

Umm to take it another step further currently there is NO Pay OR Grind for MK6
ONLY severe GRIND specially for those Blank Blank crystals
my logic is because you can use GS to gain additional aritifacts to upgrade to purple gear
I am not aware of anything that you can use GS to improve your chances of gaining additional components required to upgrade to ORANGE gear.
while you may be able to obtain a few Crystals through salvaging most of the MAIN crystals needed to craft can only be done through FINDING and retrieveing throughout OPEN world.

Pay to Win is when paying real money gives you a noticable advantage over players who don’t pay. In some cases you can get equal or comparable results through free play, but the timescale involved is generally such that it is an undesirable option. Case in point, EA’s Dungeon Keeper knock-off where it takes a week of F2P to build a room.
Now you may think Loyalty grind is fine. You might also think build time in Dungeon Keeper is fine. This is why they are both pay to win. The only difference is your personal opinion on whether it is acceptable or not. For me, P2W of any kind is unacceptable.
Module upgrade can be done without GS.
Premium ships are arguable better then the standard ships of the same type.
On subject, mk3 upgrades without credits has been pitched a number of ways. As customers we’ve talked about switching artifacts to being mk3 upgrade requirements. The most possible out of the suggetions.

On the plus side, the upgrade bonus for mk3 & mk4 is smaller than mk2. Sometimes even half has much. This odviously doesn’t stack properly for passive modules that have negatives as well… Course the best ones modules…

I don’t think it is necessary. TBH I have more and more t5 modules blue since the change to contracts, waiting for the artefacts. These are coming in veeeerrrry slowly without a license, and without farming Invasion.

No, I wouldn’t call Vouchers pay to win, but it doesn’t make sense that they put the bottleneck right at the mid-point rather than at the very end of the power-curve.
