Mixed tiers T3-T4

I understand that you want particular information, but as I said before, this is not the end of mm-changes, we are still working on it, there is no final (or even intermediary) info which we could show. I can say that all these changes are just the first steps on the way to completely different system of MM (it will be deeper than current mm). As for feedback from players, we are receiving different opinions and we are considering all of them. Sorry that I can’t say you more now.

I can get that you are still working on MM but something like “In following week we gonna test new MM settings which are designed to make games more balanced and enjoyable to everyone - They aren’t final. We are gathering info to create best outcome for every player” in patch notes would be nice you know.

Then, with all due respect, can we have a change-long posted days before a patch?  Especially something that is truly such a major change to the MM rules?  As a GM, I had no idea this patch was coming before it did and that deeply concerns me.  There needs to be both better internal communication and connection with the community whenever any change is made to the game.

That said, I don’t really mind the mixed tiers, as long as it is still possible for moderately-skilled players to be able to play in T3 with full purple gear.  Once they hit a certain skill, sure, send them up to T4.  But do NOT force veterans to play in higher tiers without first ensuring there is a way to keep those players interested.  Small games does not accomplish this.  Unbalanced games does not accomplish this.  Stripping players from their premium ships they paid money for, and forcing them away from these ships does not accomplish this.

This topic is very touchy, of course, as veterans who farmed (or simply played to get games) T3 are sore because they cannot dominate the field anymore.  But, there are really two main types of veterans…those who farm and those who just want games with acceptable amounts of players.  4 v 4 is not fun to most.  Why? Because you can’t really use ships that have auras efficiently.  Because it is easy to be the last member on your team who is alive, which is rarely your fault.  Because it is probably an unbalanced game anyways due to the limited player selection.  Not always, but a lot of the time.

Again, I don’t mind the change to MM, but I do mind not being informed and I think that is what the community is saying, too.  We all enjoy this game, for the most part, but we do not enjoy having the MM change so often and so dramatically without a good forewarning.  Other games post their change-logs days before the patch is released, to gain feedback for last-minute changes.  This is a good strategy to mimic, as it would eliminate a lot of flame after-the-fact.

Best,

Engle

Hey everyone!

There is true in your suggestion of making an extra point in the patchnote but unfortunately this idea has drawbacks.

There is a set of MM modifications which we have started, some of the changes require the feedback from players some require only statistics, that’s why we can’t create a decent announcement for every single change in it.

Regarding the lack of mentioning in the last patch. Let’s face it MM is an extremely sensitive topic which mostly creates very controversial feedback even if we are on the right path. So if we included that line in the last patchnote the wave of it’s discussion wouldn’t allow us to see the assessment of any other change presented there. But it doesn’t mean that we weren’t interested in your opinion about MM, no the situation was and is strictly monitored and we are trying to answer most of the questions about it and the idea was explained. Just we didn’t want to focus the entire forum on only one topic.

As for the internal communication, it is going to be discussed internally and I’ve already aswered Engle through PM.

Why won’t you use the test server?

“Hi guys, we are considering new MM changes. We unlocked tiers 2 and 3 on the test server, please join us at 8:00 GMT for test battles and give us feedback. Our representative will be available on Team Speak at that time and there will be possibility to get achievement ‘developer helper’ as well”.

Since the changes in MM my average wait time for a match went from a average 3 minutes for a T3 pvp, to over 10 minutes average for a T5 game. can you see my problem? you force me to play T5 but i just dont get in a match, My queue times are longer then my time in game.

ps: 14 minutes in queue at this moment and counting

Same here. I don’t wanna play in T3T4, so I only play T5 now.

Here is the result:

15min in queue and a game what was decided from the begin. (My first blood was the 1ship guy).

All I have to say is:

Equip rank 11 and/or golden t4 and you will get to xxxx up t3 players.

suggestion: if a player does not own more than 6 ships of tier 4, he will never ever get a t4 match as well.

End score was about 500 to 0.

Lol! I don’t think so.

ye i think they should make it so ur ship has to be full green to play a pvp match in it. start ppl off in pve and upgrade ships. (at least for t3-t5)

push ppl to play stuff they don’t enjoy - great idea for game

they can play invasion too. It shouldn’t be hard to get green modules on everything and this will prevent tier rushing.

The whole forum is discussing it anyways, whether you like it or not. XD Why not control this, and make a thread yourselves to ask for feedback? Or make a system of polls to gather stats.

This was a HUGE change that shut many pilots out of A WHOLE TIER, where they used to have fun games alone and in squads. Of course they are going to complain! I have been discouraged from playing PVP in the past week, simply because I cannot get more than 6v6 in t4/5 unless I organise with my corpmates to launch at the same time. And most of these games are unbalanced because of small numbers. At least in t3 I could be sure of big games, that were mostly balanced, and I could be sure I would not be playing against the same people each match.

All I have to say is:

This time I believe it works with r12 as well. We even fought a t3 squad with our r12 squad

Guys, we have adjusted it a lot today, the time of waiting should decrease dramatically… So how is it going?

Queue time is almost instant even without bots.

I’m really digging the decreased queue times. Of course, some team balance issues will have to be worked out - but these balance issues are to be expected when players can jump into the middle of a battle.

Overall, a very positive change in MM in my opinion, since what caused many newbies to leave (as I have observed) was the incredibly long queue times.

Thank you, devs.

Instant queue, large matches. Loving it so far… needs some tweaks, though

Most importantly, team battle starts with less player and less points, but the points remain same when new players are added. This makes team battles too short in large games
