missile range indicator

you know how the lead indicator turns from grey to white when enemies are within main weapon range, I would like something similar for missile range so there is a visual indicator when an enemy is within your missile range.

A) Any poll really must have a DON’T CARE option

B) I don’t really care for range indicator for missiles, but if its optional so I can turn it off if it is implemented, sure what ever.

C) I’de rather love to have some kind of a leading marker, maybe of a different shape for Unguided rockets, for the most part they are slower than projectile speed on intys.

Stop using girly pulse lasers   The lead indicator is spot on for unguided most of the time for shrapnel’s

Projectile speed of a shrapnels 1.5 - 2 faster than unguideds, so yeah

when i use shrapnels, i dont use dumb rockets. i use proxy mine

Distance alone is not a good indication. An enemy within your missile range could still escape beyond your maximum missile range before your missile reaches him.

Because ECM and CovOp can use mines :)))

Exactly, with only 2 mines vs 12 unguided I feel you gimp yourself.  Using unguided is just a matter of lining the shot up in a way that lag can have as little of effect on.

Mines are very good tool (3 of them btw) i still use them, i would love to use more of a “slowing rockets” but those are super slow and very unreliable vs other interceptors, and that’s where they should be used imho. Otherwise I use Kinetics on CO and Kinetic/EnergyDrain on ECM

alright added dont care and completely seperate lead indicator

the same is true for any projectile weapon when you are firing from near max range.m and the reverse is true (hiting an aproching target that was out of range when you fired).  It would still be nice to have an indicator.

What if unguided were fly by wire, you have to target them mid flight just like a Jericho LRF torpedo.  Just a thought.

and get sniped by full charged positron/gauss while doing so :))), or smashed into an asteroid on 700 speed with no collision compensators

It could be done with only the targeting reticle, it wouldn’t require the whole LRF guided missile approach.

it doesnt matter, you are losing control for almost 2 seconds on your ship = dead fed inty right there

Projectile travel time for weapons like positrons can be as small as half a second. Hell, even my coil mortars take at most a second before they hit a target at the extreme end of their range.

Missiles like EM torpedo, on the other hand, have a ridiculously long travel time that renders the projectile travel time for weapons insignificant in comparison.
