Mismatched matchmaking

It’s gotten slightly better for me, a couple rather even matches(skill wise, not tier wise, still basic, premium T3, with the occasional advanced T3 ship, while I’m all in T2), but the majority of the matches still plays like Roll or be Rolled.

I was just giving a neighborly troll to Alz, never actually thought he was dev affiliated- and I’d hardly call my little narration of the habits of the common internet troll to be “feces slinging”.  I dislike feces :frowning:

On-topic: Tried a few matches recently, and noticed no more than three or four T3’s in the T2 match. Definitely an improvement, I’d say.

I second that, T3 was plentiful in my experience around 9 PM yesterday. 

 

even with my corp mates, its kinda bad that most people are complaining about progression. After 10 battles with my buddies, only gained 10k loyalty. and mabye 24k rank. 

I was seeing T3 ships today when I queue’d for arcade using all T1 ships.  Often people on my team disconnect, leaving us at a disadvantage and them with no repercussions.  Also, one teammate just sat at spawn spinning in circles to avoid going afk.  There isn’t even an in-game reporting system to handle these jackalacks.

I played a few games again, and I constantly got met up with [Zero] Corp in quite a lot of matches which result into boredom facerolling from them, with there epics and stuff we cannot harm them, and this matchmaking happends so often then not, it ruines any fun of the already struggling game.

I’ve been thinking about the single tier matchmaking and what I really think I miss is the freedom of choice.

 

I am currently about rank 5 in reputation but around rank 3 in loyalty.  

 

Before, I could:

 

  1. choose tier 1, where I could fly a decently fit rank 3 ship against other such players as well as weaker players ( rank 1, mk1 fit).  

I could know that my gear was equal to or greater than that of my opponents; I could know that I was not at any significant disadvantage.

 

  1. choose tier2, where I could fly a badly fit rank 4 or 5 ship against other such players as well as stronger players (rank 6, mk3 fit, 6 implants).

For this I would receive greater rewards, due to higher rank ship bonus and be in a different environment (weapon variations, module effects).  

At the same time, I would know that my gear made me inherently weaker than some of my opponents.

 

And so I could go back and forth, taking advantage of these choices to mix up my play style with much needed diversity.  But now there are no choices.  Regardless whether I queue with my well-fit rank3 ship or my poorly fit rank 4 ship, I am always matched up against a huge range of players, some of whom have little chance against my gear and some of which I have little chance against. It blows my mind that such an unbalanced range is allowed to compete in the same arena. 

At the moment I do not mind tier differences because I think iam good enough of a flyer to even the playfield, sometimes that is, because if there just as good or often better, I have no chance, what annoyes me the most is being queued up against premades of 4, that happends to me SO often, and it completely ruines the fun because I stand no chance against them when they are working together. I hope in the feature premades are against premades, however, at the moment the player base is so low I doubt it will happen soon.

I’m fairly sure the matchmaking is running off Rank rather than ship tech level. I’ve been playing Empire having a good time shooting around at T1. The moment I hit Rank 4 - yesterday - suddenly my T1 ships (a Hercules 2 or Dvergr 2) were being thrown up against full fleets of Deimos 2s and Hydra 2s on max synergy.

 

I played in one beacon capture where I was top of our team with 2 kills 2 assists and some captures - about 1600 points. The top 5 of the opposing team all had more than 4,000 points, with the leader racking up 23 kills. There was no skill involved on either side. They auto killed us and we could barely scratch them. It was ludicrous.

 

I wouldn’t mind if winning battles gave me enough credits to buy ships of my current rank. But the way things are you hit rank 4 long before you can afford a T2 ship and then are stuck playing target practice for top-tier T2 ships until you grind enough credits to get a decent set of ships together. By which time I’ll probably be Rank 7 and have the same problem all over again matched with maxed out T3.

 

tl:dr: I think it’s the fact you can’t get credits quickly enough to afford ships which match your rank which is causing the worst of the MM problems.

So solution then? Slow down reputation gain, fix Loyalty gain and increase credits gained.

 

Now they all are in perfect harmony!

Actually its should be battles based on Teir like it was BEFORE this patch. Loyalty should be raised or Cooldowns eleminated from contracts. Repairs should not be more than 25k for every teir, I mean come on, its the year 5342 and they cant make ships cheaply?

You can’t base stuff like that on “reality” or “how things should be”, this is a game…

Tiers being mixed aside, I’m also bumping into the issue that one of two teams is loaded with people from the same corp resulting in a faceroll from their end. If they’re on my team, the match is short and dull, if they’re on the other, the match is short and frustrating.

 

Kindly do what WoT does and match up teams based on the number of people based in a platoon as well.

Today and yesterday I had about 16 matches, 14 of them with premades, 90% of that against me without a premade on our side, this makes playing incredible dull, boring and frustrating because you dont stand a chance against most of them. Please work on this, I know the player base is to small for it but for the love of god, let premades wait 2 more mins in queue to fight against other premades then this rubbish.

Que is over 5 minutes in Realistic already pretty much every single time.

 

At this rate how the game is dying, if they implement that no one will ever play the game again.
