There should be an option to send up to 10 ships away to mine for you like the Arthur Gage away missions. Every few minutes you should be sent mail containing the resources that they have gotten for you, and the mail should expire in 24 hours to prevent AFK abuse.
The ships you send should directly affect the resources that you gain. For instance R1-6 should only give you metal blanks and crystal shards and silicon. R7-12 should give you the rest of the standard resources. And R13-15 should give you Monos and Xenos and destroyer materials.
All ranks should have rare chances to give mysterious rewards that are super valuable and secret and stuff. Like finding a light cell in a lost PvAI loot.
Would it be better if you could pick the extra reward besides the vouchers once the contract is done?

Always.
And it’s not a contract. It’s a “permanent” project to send unused ships on to make them useful. The current away missions are very nice but lack certain things that are needed in the game.
I think that the Gage mission needs an upgrade and it should up the scale of free daily stuff with it also.
Honestly i have the talent to sometime totaly forget the Gage Mission cus it gives nothing really in compare to the time it takes to finish + the ships don´t really gain anything from it or return anything special/usefull
Some sort of “mining operation” for the dust collectors would be neat cus honestly when do you really use them again when you need to go for higher ships to fly.
Eventually make it so that it gives 2 modes where you can your ships assign to.
Loot Hunting - The time is determined by the ship class how long it takes to return but therefore those ships return with better loot then just the raw mats.
As time frames i would say 2 hours for Interceptors, 4 hours for Gunships and 6 hours for Frigates (Dessy eventually 8 hours if they should be included as well)
As Loot i would now say all the crafted stuff that you need for the ship crafting (exept for Neo/Bery and Electrum that still will return just as raw material if you have the ship of the corrosponding or higher rank is send out)
Quick Salvage - The time is determined by the Cargo capacity of the ship but the materials the ships will bring back will be the more common raw material that is needed for crafting the higher quality stuff
Here i would suggest 10 or 15 mins per Cargo Slot
As little extra buffer i would even say each mode has an limit on ships that can be assigned to it. At the start every mode starts with 1 slot and for every 3 ranks in the factions (elly left aside here) you gain 1 additional slot that you can decide if you wanna add it to Loot Hunt or Quick Salvage. The Max slots you can have for each mode is with the starting slot 7 what would mean 14 ships in total that could be send out for those missions.
As Little change (and to grab Fox idea up here) i would say if an ship returns it appears on the screen when you return to the Hangar in order to unload it to gain the materials before it can fly out again. During Offline times the pilots will go into an “rest” mode that decreases the time for the next x (eventually 1 unit per hour offline) flights by 75%. If you switch the ships in the slots the bonus will simply vanish so that you can´t “store” the bonus.

This would only cause players to AFK in game. No help to anyone. And swapping single ships would be awesome because often I will hit auto-select and lose a ship that I was about to use on accident. Or a mission to be finished in 2 hours and I see a ship that I wanted to use.
Well you can put yourself into afk ingame BUT as long as the ships isn´t unloaded it won´t go for another round so it´s pretty pointless to stay ingame when you gain nothing from it.
Compare it like with the daily login where you need to click in order to gat the daily bonus. If you are afk the ships stay in hangar all the time and materials will be gained. In terms of the “auto select” thingy from Gage the ships put into the Loot or Salvage slot won´t be considered for the autoselect round.

There’s still too much that could go wrong in terms of automation etc. It would be time wasted on pointless restrictions. Like having to buy and fly ship roles you hate just to buy ships you want.
