Merge Faction Loyalty Vouchers - Only one currency per faction.

Simply put, there are too many currencies in this game. GS, Credits, Iridium, and SIX  different loyalty voucher counts.

This is not only a high learning curve for new players, but hinders player progression in an unnecessary fashion, especially in the lategame content.

As such, I suggest that the six voucher types be merged into only three kinds:

  • Legion and Wardens become  Empire
  • Armada and Vanguard become  Federation
  • Raid and Techs become  Jericho

Due to the change in the system, and slightly increased ease of voucher acquisition as contracts would also be merged, each faction would increase its capacity to 1 500 000 vouchers per, rather than the current 1 000 000.

At the time this were to be implemented (assuming it is), player’s voucher counts would be merged along with the rest.

See below for an example.

All I can really say is, prices are going to be very important. Where completion of a task will give you the same amount of vouchers, either the prices need to be higher to keep them grindy, or lower to accomodate for the amount of vouchers necessary. I had to grind so hard to perform two recent equipment upgrades for a Rank 12+ module and I still have to say, every single bit of those vouchers was worth the grind, but after a while it just gets tiring having to constantly slave over trying to make sure you have that amount of vouchers. You can make about 300 Iridium in a day very, very easily, but making any more than 80,000 vouchers in the current system is impossible.

Which is where, obviously, I am going to say, reduce the prices of the modules as well as merge the currencies. Or at least, make these currencies easier to acquire and up the prices for the Mk.3 upgrades.

I would also like to, in addition to the vouchers, see the option given for a Mk.3 upgrade kit to be worth vouchers if salvaged as well, meaning that not just Iridium should be offered. Depending on what you salvage, the kit will offer 10% of the full upgrade’s worth in vouchers given over what is needed for that faction, and I’d like to see this placed in blue loot.

Merging currencies would mean that all contracts are merged as well. So if one contract currently gives Legion and another gives Wardens, with this suggestion, both would give Empire.

I definitely +1 this. Since having 6 different currencies for one specific purpose of levelling modules and modifiers makes it very difficult to acquire the large numbers of them needed for upgrading T4 and T5  (I don’t know what rank they’re classified as now) gear to MkIII which is seen by many to be the most difficult stage to pass.

Great idea. Vouchers arent meant to be obtained fast, but it must not be that hard too; the last patches added the foward mission granting up to 49500 vouchers per day, which makes things a lot better (not too easy, not too hard). With merged vouchers per faction, this would be as balanced as before, but less painfull for players to upgrade what they want (they need to spend the same time obtaining those vouchers, only that theres no filter for subfaction).

devs: “as chrismas gift we will implement this system, everything else will remain the same, that means that maximum voucher cap will remain as before: 1m” :santa:

I think the main problem with vouchers is that they are far harder to get than any other resource. Credits can be easily attained in PvE, synergy in PvP, iridium in both and from sector rewards, hell, even open space. But vouchers are harder to get. Sure, completing a contract gives some, but then you have to wait basically a day to get more, and any voucher pickups from loot are basically negligible, as they are so rare and the few you do find are low-quantity.

I think reworking so that it is one voucher currency per faction will help, but something does need to be done to make them slightly easier to get. Either that or switch the mk3 and mk4 upgrade currencies. Since iridium is easier to get, it should be used for Mk3 upgrades, and vouchers for Mk4. This will be especially nice as mk3 and mk4 gear don’t have a huge performance difference, so people won’t be stuck with green modules fighting purple modules, but working with blue fighting purple, which isn’t as hard for your average player.

It has been suggested many times…i still dont understand why it isnt implemented yet.

You guys are missing the point. Remember that since the contracts are merged, all contracts with one faction will provide vouchers for that faction. So if you were getting 3000 Vanguard and 3000 Armada from two different contracts, that result would now cause you to get 3000 Federation from both, for 6000 total.

That does make it easier to get them. You have nearly 30 contracts giving you vouchers per faction as opposed to the 15 for each subtype before.

yeah we know that. I didnt talked about it because in the end you use all vouchers: lets say you earn 75k raid and 75k tech (150k total), you spend them both in 2 modules (EM shield and therm shield T3 as example). For that you took the same time to gather if system were merged, difference is that in new system you can purchase one thing at “middle stage” (in the actual system you purchase both in final stage).

Then that’s a topic for another thread. This is a hard enough thing to pitch as it is, so it’s not a good idea to try and force a second idea into it. One step at a time.

I think that Doomb0t just answered in the 1.2.4 update discussion and his answer is sadly, no… They even want or wanted to implement more sub-factions than 6.

First, I don’t think there are too many resources. Since all vouchers are functionally the same, they can be classed as one. And here also lies a problem; There is no real point to having multiple types for each faction. As long as there is nothing else to distinguish between them, they are just arbitrary limits to stop you from upgrading too much of the same thing - and you can only use so many of the same modules anyway. If there was a tree or unlock system with the factions or if they were important for the lore, they might have a use, but right now, not so much.
