Matchmaking prefers strong teams

So today I was flying T3 as usual, when I noticed that I was in the same team as WPK or ESB, this continued for 10 matches. During these matches the other team never had any chance, we would always be able to push them back to spawn. Frankly I felt bad for the other team, because what are they supposed to do. Then I was put on the other side of this matchmaking and then I was 100% sure there are no options. If you look at the teams bellow you immediately see the issue, even the players which are flying alone and are good where placed on the more dominante team. (DarkStar, Stalork) And frankly that ROGER squad (None of them above 1100 DSR) was completely inadequate to fight ESB & WPK (One of them is the idiots that flew right forward)
Basically either the matchmaking needs to really make sure the lone players are placed fairly, or it can’t put two strong squads together against a group of incomparable players.

Btw that match was over in less than 1 minute.

No matter what you’ve been told, match-making doesn’t balance by SR, never has. It balances by squad sizes and that’s it. Also T3 is unbalanced anyway.

Well the point is to make it balanced… even if that means that it SHOULD balance based on SR

Not enough players for that, waiting times are too long already.

They could have put WPK and NASA on one side against ROGER and ESB and the match would have been way more interesting and intense… I love playing intense matches in which winning is unclear, but if you are programmed to loose. Well whats the point in playing.

Once all the players are set, the subroutine to place players on each side fairly shouldn’t take very long. If the list of the player rankings from that set is sorted, a standard algorithm could be used to place players on each team very quickly. Or there could be multiple algorithms designed to be used in various situations. They wouldn’t have to be complex either.

One that could work (after the squads are placed) is put the highest person on team ‘A’, the next two on team ‘B’, the next two on team ‘A’, next two on team ‘B’, and so on, with the last person being put on team ‘A’.

But uneven teams could also depend on which ships players have equipped, so the problem can get quite complicated. And if SC will be released this year (no offense meant to the devs, but I have to maintain a realistic viewpoint), the balancing subroutines would be obsolete far too quickly to justify the implementation time.

TL;DR - Either wait for the beta to end, play PvE, or just make the best of it. (I like to use LRFs when I know my team is doomed.)

Not enough players for that, waiting times are too long already.

But this problem isn’t due to low player database. I’ve already complained about this.

Once the matchmaking have found enough player to create a match, he then have to build the 2 teams. And here, it’s the problem, since he badly designed them because it was not a fair match.

There MUST be a repartition by SR, and it won’t add time to wait you know.

Well, if MM had put ESB with NASA you’d have complained as well, because the result would have been the same. Players who are good at killing dominate tier 3 because that tier is so unbalanced that you can easily go on a rampage.

The most dangerous players in T3 outside of the good corps are typically the bots.

PS: That’s no insult to the other players - they are often rather new with few hours played, non-synergized lower ranking ships and non-upgraded equipment. T3 is a bad tier, that’s all.

Tell me which tier is good… I want to know!

So I can play there.

Reverse thrusting LRF looking for a challenge? Good one!

Stranger things have happened. I was even seen synergizing a guard in PVP yesterday. xD

Tier 4/5 atm is quite good. Plenty of people thanks to the sales. I’m just playing t3 when it is too late or too early to get games in high tiers.

Then I go back to tier 3 and it is like “Why the hell is everything so slow??”

Tried that…

B@con capture… all enemy bacons w/o drones, enemy made kill ball(everyone moved in same direction).

while enemy was on way to bacon, red bacons on other sides were left alone… my team didn’t cap our bacon, also didn’t move for red bacons(my team had faster set up)… I ended up capping one bacon with 200m/s Naga - After this T5 don’t exist for me.

so maybe there are others ranks that are nice to play?

Go play T1, you will find ESB squads farming DSR.

And you met them there because …?

That behaviour is the same across all tiers. But in Tier 4/5 your ship is powerful enough to carry the whole game alone. That is why I like high tiers.

I didn’t meet them. We are getting multiple complaints about it. Also you just need to read global chat from time to time.
