After talking with some of my corp members and seeing other players on chat complaining of queue times, a solution for helping people queue better, that is knowing if there are enough players queuing in the Tier for a match or what squads are queuing and their size.
Since the match maker needs an equal size squad on both sides, a squad that does not have a matching one will not get in. But in the current state of launching into the queue there is no information given on whether or not there are enough players queuing or if there are squads of different sizes.
an example: A squad of 3 players queues for a T2 PvP, the information and time pops up, in the list of info,
- Queuing for rank 4-6 Skirmish
- Number of pilots in this queue: 7
- Squads Queuing: 2 Pilot: 1
This information will tell the squads to either both disband, 3 pilot squad remove 1 player to queue separate, or 2 pilot squad to try to gain a player, Or go queue for something else entirely. In any case the players and the squads have more useful information when queuing. The queue times will be reduced by those who understand and know how the MatchMaker works and can queue smarter.

Does the number include your squad?
Like if your squad is the only squad does it say 0 or 1?

Any more kind of information about queue is welcome, no matter the idea !
The number could include your squad, if you see and even number that size squad queuing it would tell you that you will get in, just that another player or two may be needed.
Btw I thought that a 3squad could go against a 4squad and vice versa. 2squads still need a 2squad tho?
Am I correct?
Matchmaking
Squad balance
For each 2-pilot squad in one of the team, there is a 2-pilot squad in the opposing team
That may be Efefay, not totally sure. The quote above is from patch notes v0.10.4
Only other information i could find is from Q&A Devs version May 2014 by Akaurl:
Matchmaker is now in setup mode. Once completed, we will publish its mechanic.
At first it searches a game in your region, which was choosen by the pilot. If there is no suitable game, it continues to search worldwide.
These classifications are fundamentally impossible. Each region has its own queue. The region “any” also has the queue.
You can choose your preferred region (see answer above). If you select “any region”, then you get into a special queue with the same pilots as you and pilots who can’t find a game in their home regions. After the MM defines the optimal region for both teams.
The above quote does not state its full functionality but we can know for sure a 2 player squad must be matched by another 2 player squad. You are correct.

+1 to this thread. Great suggestion
Not supporting this. With the low number of players it will just dissuade more players from queueing if they do not already see their match in the queue, yet someone always has got to be the first. And with higher player numbers (one can hope) this won’t be necessary anymore, anyway.
Snib is right again. People gravitate people. If there are no people somewhere, there wont be people there (see Google+ vs Facebook, there has to be a VERY compelling reason to switch).
I’d rather know there’s no one else in the x person tier y squad queue and make the choice to stay and wait than to be in the queue blind for 5+ minutes.

Is this from Mulan? Please don’t get off topic. This is a very good thread.
It is all good and I am all for it, but they recently removed the squad columns from the “Fight” button and one should actually que and use the debug graph to actually see if one should change tier.
Are they going to give us more info on que or less ?
Think about it.

It’s from ‘Fiddler on the Roof’.
I’m not quite off-topic
I’m just singing to the match-maker.
You were close, though.
I look forward to the time when I can see how many people are in the queue. It will show when I can expect to get a game.
Even if I’m the only one in queue, I don’t want to suddenly get up to go drink or do other activities and then find that when I get back I’m blown to bits while
I was gone. It’s nice to know what to expect. Even if there was no one else in the queue I wanted, I would wait.
I tried doing that NASA thing to get the unofficial queue. I went through the files but couldnt add the line pointed out. Do you need a special program for that?
+1. More info, especially important stuff such as queue info, is always welcome.

They patched it out, you cant get it anymore.

Wrong.

Make sure you have the game not running when you edit it in.
I’ll try again then… Ugh… 1 more hour until summer break… Unspoken rule in school: no dropping deuces or you get the door kicked open and butt raped.
Yersh erf terpic.
