Title says it plain and simple - compressed built-in replay mechanic for individual matches.
This would help a lot to reduce huge amounts of fraps storage on our computers (which is why i didn’t record any sc match to date), but instead the moments you want to record from the replay and the angle / details you want.
It really is painful sometimes when in a match you pull off something of epic proportions and have no way of sharing it with others.
For example, i caused one of the best captain kills in the game’s history when our team was losing due to kill ratio - i suicided my guard, switched to recon in the last 20 seconds, warped to enemy cap, shot him twice (“Surprise b*tch!”) and he freaks out setting a gate and warping away (“Enemy so bad! I’m jsut gonna use this and ge out! HAR HAR HAR!”) into an asteroid and going boom ("Oh… -.-’ "). I would have really loved to capture that. Just today, same losing scenario and i got another epic cap kill in the last 3 seconds of the game - me in cov ops, activating invisibility module (forgot it’s name), passing all enemies, surprise energy lance in cap’s face (he wasn’t paying attention). Or annihilating the entire enemy team with some luck by yourself (that’s how i got my grim reaper medal).
I had a game where both captains were done, me, alone in one team and 3 enemies in the other team, I won 1v3 and it was uber intense, I would like to share it with someone
Can i bring this back up? If so, then HUMP-BUMP-tastic!
Still looking forward to this so we can easily make videos out of them. Frapsing or using any other dumb live-recording software kills fps and the final result of the recorded vid isn’t what i’d call awesome. With replays, we can go back and forth with the action until we get it right.
FPS kill, makes the game half way unplayable. Already tried both of them, they’re not quite so awesome as everyone says. And they cause stutter while watching the recorded video.
Also it will give you boring cams. On top of that you can spot other stuff that has happened in the match which you didn’t see.

YEAH! BRING IT!!
I’m not gonna buy a new hard drive just to store hundreds of gigas for picky video processing, i’d rather pick the moments i’m interested in and make the video straight out of them.
Most lag is distance from the server, not the server itself. The game actually uses little bandwidth. If needed, the devs could forward the traffic to another server for viewing.
I don’t think recording the game will have any significant additional load on the servers. Recording games has been around for more than a decade with much slower hardware and less bandwidth. I played Homeworld1 online in 4vs4 and recorded it and had only a dialup connection.
