We had a dreadnought fight 7vs8, so we had a bot in our team who made us loose the game. We wouldve won by about 100 points if our bot wouldnt have rushed and died alone 11 times, thats right, we wouldve been much better being 7vs8 without that bot (the bot got lowest score of course). Yesterday we had a much tougher fight: it was 8vs8, but one of our guys was random. He started dying like the bot, but we told him to stay behind, he did so and we won (not by much but we did it).
I understand that bots may help for incomplete random teams, but for more competitive fights when you cant get the 8 man wing you got to do much better to recover the points the bot makes you loose (cause thats what bots are good for). So heres the solution: before starting the game, while queueing, make a clickeable option (like the dread icon on the map) to allow or prevent bots spawning in your team.

Well, as you already know from me, serious tweaks of SecCon will take place pretty soon. As usual, I can’t reveal it.
As for bots, they are not the main issue of Dreads for now. I suppose you agree with me.

Yeah you are right. And yes, bots arent the biggest issue…but i got pretty pissed from this (reminded me of times when bots messed up PVP in high tiers).
It would be nice to be able to toggle bots on or off. For our specific situation last night, we had a team of 7 and 1 bot, whereas our opponents had a team of 8.
Needless to say, the programming of the bot basically turned it into a point sink, where it was guaranteed that we would lose _x _amount of points per minute due to the bot dying _in addition to _our regular point loss from dreadnought main calibers, etc.
It’s completely unfair from the get-go for teams with a bot on their side and no equivalent point sink on the other side - the game is rigged from the start for the team that is in total control of their players.
I suggest a removal of bots entirely for dreadnought battles with players in it. We have won in the past as a 6v8, and it is ridiculous for us to be unable to win because of something we can’t control.
I remember Counter strike bots would listen to you if you give them commands, how about the same thing here?
This sounds good. Bot attacks closest marked/pinged target. Also a don’t spawn button for bots. Both could be useful in different situations. Let teams decide in balance a little.

I though about it a little. In battlefield 2142, single player mode (the same multiplayer game but filled with bots instead of players) works pretty well. They accept orders from commanders, squad leaders and even basic orders from lone wolfes: you can order them to attack/defend a sector, move to a specific location, offer heals/revives/ammo resupply, wait for you to hop in the vehicle/get in your vehicle/exit the vehicle, if you are a squad leader you can request for supply drops/orbital strikes/area scann (sometimes the bot commanding refuses xD but i guess its to simulate the power of the commander: he is in charge)…they might be stupid sometimes, or act ridiculously OP sometimes, but they “hear and obey you”.
EDIT: that command “rose” opens with Q (for basic orders) and T (squad/commander orders).
EDIT 2: hahaha i would be so satisfied with some “command rose” like this one xD:

I was that random pub. I’m glad you said: “stay back” coz as a teamplayer I hate when I’m left alone! Sorry I costed you guys all those points and glad you managed to turn around!
no worries, if you felt personally mentioned, you were mentioned as the good example
also, you are not so random now anymore, so welcome to the forums
don’t forget to equip collision compensators as you roam through them in future it helps.
not worried… I like the example and it’s funny I was the one!
on that note I really think Papitas is right. Having bots on a dread battle is counter productive. Honestly, having randoms is just as weird and not good. As a matter of fact, it’s against the very nature of the corporations. Plus it spoils the benefit of being in a corporation and ruins the effort of putting some teamwork on the go…

Bots can help in some situations (like random vs random), and in others they are a huge burden to carry. Anyway, lets wait to see what devs are working on.
there should be no random dread battle. that’s my point entirely. In fact, having the defenders coming from outside a corporation is just as bad. it’s preferable to have less daily attacks. Well… maybe that’s just me… I really think that, especially considering that a corporation gets a higher reward after the first few days holding it, it should never allow other corporations to defend it, or it should allow attackers to bring outsiders too. Either way, it only ruins the inter corporate battle, when it comes to reward the most active or effective corporation for the effort of holding a sector.

what happened to this? and my thread? please take bots out of dreadnoughts, it’s nearly impossible to win with a bot feeding constantly. in 20 minutes, a bot can feed 20 times. 15 points lost per death, that’s 300 points from 1 bot in one game. Why would you hurt the team that’s short a player any more than they’re already hurting?
