it serves a vital role. and the motd is fine, but its too limited in charectar space. but the mail issues themselves are horrible. We run a very active corp atm 75+ active and getting info to those members who choose not to hop on ts3 or check forums is important. And i know most people will say kick who doesnt conform. but we at BoJ dont play like that, we know some people have lives and also just dont want that other stuff. so its a simple case of just re doing the mailing and id say general chat settings too. as it would be nice to create your own channels
It serves a vital role that a myriad of other communication systems do more effectively, more clearly and more efficiently.
Frankly, we don’t need a communication system for players who don’t want to use the official forums, their corp forums, team-speak, skype, Facebook or email. If you are that hell-bent on not talking to your Corp, you’re clearly too stupid to join a Corp in the first place.
Different corps have different goals. A competitive corp needs a reliable way of communication, much more so than a casual corp. I don’t apply to join competitive corps because I’m pretty much a casual player and I don’t use Teamspeak or Raidcall.
My suggestions:
Officers (at least, somehow my officers) can change the MOTD (you may want to ask your CEO first). Use this to your advantage!
Make a thread for your Corp here in the Forums. Make sure to tell your members (one at a time or in the MOTD) to regularly look at the thread.
Get a website (or social media page). Make sure to tell your members (one at a time or in the MOTD) to regularly look at it regularly.
Myself, the MOTD is more than enough. If I, or any of my Officers, have something more to say, we make an easy link (I use bit.ly) to a section of our website for the longer post.
Having managed a 500-member clan in another game, I fully agree. Different corps have different preferences and needs, so it’s better to redirect members to an external forum or social media platform that best suits the corp’s needs. Besides, a corp is a community and should have its own dedicated space for members to interact.
