Loyalty

“this game is still a beta and you should expect such changes” - complete bullshit

you make a change like that to the loyalty system in closed beta not in this stage of the game.

you consider your game is still in beta and you still want to make changes as big as the one you just did? don’t charge the players money for parts of the game.

once you start getting money from players you don’t make a change like this one.

i’ll say that again: once you start getting money from players YOU DON’T MAKE A CHANGE LIKE THIS ONE.

you want to slow down the loyalty progress? make the loyalty gains (contracts and battles) about 75% of what it was before

any slower than 75% of what it was reeks of money grabbing

All I can do is agree! Your dead on the thinking of many players and to those that disagree its more then likely because they had very little to loose from this latest dev. blooper!

At this point I’m watching to see how they rectify this mistake and make it right by the player base. I have loads of $$$ in computer hardware and add-ons specifically for flight games (Clearly I’m a fan that backs that excitement with $$$) and I was hoping this was going to be a hit and this blunder could make or break this title for many current players.

I think the only way to even remotely have any kind of somewhat decent loyalty gains if they are going to force the contract issue would be to change the cooldowns as follows:

1 week contracts -> 1 day (equiv to ~2-3 wins in the old system)

1 day contracts -> 2 hours (~2-3 of these equiv to 1 win in the old system)

1 hour contracts -> 30 min (~7-10 of these equiv to 1 win in the old system)

Even with these changes, if you played say 3 hrs in a day you would only get maybe 5-6 wins worth of loyalty equivalent to the old system.  If you’ve ever went on a 6+ game win streak before, you used to be able to pop off this much loyalty in 1 hour.  This would still only be barely 1/3 the gain compared to the old system, which means it will still take  triple  the amount of time using the new system.  So maybe they could also double the amount of contracts in addition to these cool down changes or add additional contracts to replace the former dailies/weeklies.

Also what was mentioned above, it can take an hour to even get into the right game for beacon objectives if you keep getting stuck in detonation or combat recon.  As it stands right now, you have to play every day for 2 weeks at a minimum just to get a single faction from say R8-R9.

Unfortunately, ppl who have dumped money already feel betrayed and most of the community obviously hates it, so I think it is more likely that the game won’t see more than 1k players during peak soon.

Oh wow. This change. Wow. I was just thinking whether to spend money on this game, but this is like a total dealbreaker for me. It’s like you’re punishing people for playing your game more than once in a week.

This.

I’m a little rustled that I bought a license when Loyalty was still given after matches and suddenly it’s gone. I somehow feel like I’ve gotten scammed.

I am trying to give the contract thing a shot but it’s pretty pathetic compared to what it used to be. I can understand a nerf but this is just over the top.

Sure it was a good game, I got Fear Me, Third Beacon (enemy didn’t recap) and several kills, completing three contracts in one swoop.

Still less loyalty than the match rep worth. 1200+800+480 =/= 3118

Before steam you would have seen some real issues with the game like 10 to 15 minute que times and your squads of 4 with T2 rank 6 ships being matched up with T3’s.

Both of these still happen anyway. Your point?

well i for one have not played this game since the loyalty changes

Wating for them to make it worth while again…

Fact 1: Grinding is only fun if you have a goal which you want to achieve

Fact 2: Grinding is only fun when you make progress towards that goal

Fact 3: Due to the cooldowns on the contracts you can’t make any progress on grinding a blue item often times, so playing this game is NOT fun if your current goal is to farm a blue item.

Normal Matches should at least give some loyalty, so you have the feeling that you can make progress towards your current goal.

It is fine if that is (a lot) less than before the loyality change, but each game should at least give you some some reward.

Im curious to see what they gonna do, but to my eyes its clearly p2win, and if the game go on in this direction, im gonna quit it quickly.

It’s obvious that the loyalty nerf was a push to sell more Premium weapons.

I know how the model works; There has to be a profit. But I really do believe they’re going the wrong way with all of this.

These kinds of things coupled with license issues and the fact that you can’t play T4 on basic and break even…It’s just depressing thinking about it. I’ll probably end up playing T2 for the rest of my time in this game once my license runs out. I think it’ll be worth sticking around just to see some of the things discussed if they are added in later.

What really needs to be done is loyalty earned through battles themself being added back, if they want with less, but xxxx its getting really annoying, especially as there are so many domination contracts and so often a combat recon (with idiot captains) or detonation (with interceptor swarms)

*edit*

In that interview, I really do not like that weapons should be limited to certain ships, customization and personalisation of the ship makes this game great. (please paintjobs at some time^^)

They already have some ships give boni to certain guns, cant they add to that-.-

I wouldn’t mind seeing some unique abilities/weapons for factions. Kinda stinks that empire ships all get bonus to weapon damage and other faction lines get few if any at all. Would love to see Jericho with shield regen bonus or something.

Fed just needs love all around.

you can play T3 without license, too. you’ll get ~60k per round and if you die often, you have to pay ~40k. not much but you wont lose money.

i’d like to see skill-based loyalty-xp-payout. for example: you have contract with armada, you wont get loyalty for armada and vanguard-kills but you’ll get some points for kills/assists against players which have contracts with the jericho- or empire-subfactions. so: the better you are, the more loyalty you get but it’s a bit random too because you don’t know who has a contract with which faction.

+1, sounds fun.

Pin me up as someone not particularly impressed with this change.

There is something deeply psychological with watching the numbers go up.

Also contracts are linked to a very specific (item, fraction, etc) which i feel does shoe horn my play style.

Chopping and changing fractions to ensure i always have contracts just feels a bit wrong.

Ill put my name on the list calling for something to be added to loyalty each match.

If you do want to separate it, how about giving loyalty for medals?

You very rarely go through a match earning absolutely no medals.

So after a few days of flu based leave, I came back. My loyalty gain has come to an all time stop, it feels like I’m treading quicksand here. And I do have a license, I do have spend some money on cash shop stuff. But this change, it’s rather annoying to me and won’t see me renewing the license next month. The game is still fun and I’ll play with lootbased equipment - but the game won’t see me investing more money the way it is now.

I don’t mind cash shops, if they feel optional. In that case I’m often willing to fork over money anyways. But the second I feel like the game is pressuring me to buy stuff over playing, I lose all interest and hold onto my money.

THIS ! Quote for thruth because we all know that the ESB was / are the dev team

I have the “Killed Tester” and Killed Dev" Achievements on one of my accounts, and I get at least one every so many games when fighting ESB. (I have 3 one of each faction).

They all came from ESB kills and only ESB kills.

That being said, Nothing says devs can’t play the game as well. They should. But they should not play with purples so they understand how everyone else feels to get owned by them on occasion, and to never ever see them drop even after 500 games…

This.

I dumped over 100$ intot he game because it seemed great, then got T4, realized what a load of crap it is, noticed Purples never drop after 500 games (Got 1 t2 useless purple), Noticed without a license you can’t really even play the game effectively, then the loyalty and rep gains diminish…

Needless to say I pretty much uninstalled the game.

Stick with T3. It’s quite good. T4 sucks because of low amount of people playing it, while T3 has a wide variety of people playing it.

Also with recent speed nerf, T3 is still more or less balanced other then federation interceptors. Others weren’t pushing too far above 600m/s and as a result remain more or less viable. T4 ints are basically broken at the moment.

I suspect they’ll start polishing T4 closer to release when people actually reach it.

You guys do realise they are compensating for lost Loyalty with the patch on Thursday?

This conversation is becoming an echo chamber feeding itself separate from reality.

It will be an especially great time to play.
