Nice to hear. I feel the same way :yes_yes: Sometimes things get heated but it’s nice to see everyone move on. I’m happy with the changes so anything they add on Thursday will just be a bonus.
1) Take a look at numbers of battles you played guys, and then take a note of how many hours you spent in combat and in game (it’s all on your profile). Then compare it with ranks you have.
With previous system I managed easily to hit 8/7/7 and Rep 6 with each subfaction. Granted I used my licence, but also without it it wasn’t bad at all. That means T3 ships with MkIII gear and some neat implants. Not to mention purple/green stuff I found in the meantime. It took me only ~350 games to get there.
Let me put it this way - for an online game getting half-way in less than week of normal and maybe a weekend hardcore playing is way too fast.
Disagree there. It’s not so much about the journey. That’s just a means to an end: To reach the endgame.
As I said before. A game like Quake 3 didn’t have any kind of artificial progression. Everyone had access to everything, and people played this game for years.
If the game is good, people will play it.
If the game is good, but the grind to compete at the top level takes forever or involves doing things that have little to do with the match at hand, people will just go play something else that doesn’t enforce contrived game mechanics onto them.
I mean seriously, why do I have to use gun X or ship Z to progress when I’m not even interested in either? Bo-ring.
And if this is really just to make people buy gold gear: There’s other ways for them to get money anyway. Stickers, Paintjobs, other cosmetic things like pink sparkly engine trails (I would totally buy those), etc. (On a side note: perhaps it was a mistake to make stickers account-wide instead of per-ship)

I was reading too fast there, i was like :what:

Agreed :yes_yes:
That’s way too much. The contracts are just fine now. They just need to add a loyalty gain for wins that has nothing to do with contracts. Your ship tree rank still increases just fine. The only thing loyalty does is give you higher tech. If you stop and think about it logically they had to do something because everyone was just passing by Mk2 and getting Mk3 gear like I stated. If you can’t think rationally then you keep making a bigger deal about loyalty. I’m still saying you should get loyalty for wins but it’s close right now to how it should be.
I completely disagree.
1.) There is a difference between being able to pass mk II to go directly to mk III and not being able AT ALL to have mk III for all techs > 2 because it would require years of grinding. So no its not fine.
2.) At least there was one good thing from this change. Getting LP only from contracts is a xxxx good idea, because it will force players to try to teamplay, cause it often ask to capbeacons or things like that. And it will may be make move xxxx guys in snipers. And you want to xxxx it up by returning to the last system?
Also, its not because you got your gold items as fast as your CB allowed it or because you got already your r12 in all factions that you have to try to screw everyone else.
A little sidenote, if my sticker wouldnt had been account wide, id never bought it. Same would go for any cosmetic item, if i cant use it as i want to, i won’t spend money on it.
and i refrain from writing a comparison involving shoes as to why i won’t

The implication is that the stickers would have been cheaper, though. People are more likely to spend tiny amounts of gold than bigger chunks.
But yeah I can see both sides here. Account-wide is nice
I find the prices okay, if i look at wot, i havent spend a single dime on the game. On this i got a steam dlc and am just waiting for the next discount to get another one as well as considering to buy some gold directly.
The reason is i consider getting a few other stickers i like, so i can switch them around when i feel like.
If they add permanent account wide paintjobs like they did with stickers, id spend money on those as well, if it would be a per ship item, they wont see a dime from me.
btw dear dev’s dark purple with black stripes paintjob pretty please ;D

lol years of grinding ? I’m doing just fine changing contracts and with Thursday’s promise of even further loyalty increases it’s not a big deal. Stop being a drama queen. What is it that you think you have to grind. Equip your ship, select some contracts and play. Like I state many times I initially was very upset as well but once you quit worrying about what you used to have and just play you will realize that it’s not a big deal. The only thing it affects is outfitting your ship and there are a few ways to outfit your ship.

Thats exactly what ive done, i completed not even 1/7 of R8 in wardens since the patch. ANd i didnt played like a casual.
You’re really likely to be already R12 or have nice full rack of gold items cause you dont look to realise how hard they nerfed it.
I’ve really enjoyed playing this game, but I gotta say that I just login now to make sure I keep getting the daily login reward. If the sub-faction rep does not go back to some semblance of the way it was (with at least some sub-faction rep/game regardless of win/lose, etc) I will stop playing completely. Shame given I’ve already put some cash into it and was planning on being a regular subscriber.
Insane grinds will not be fixed by small tweaks in the contract system, and I have no desire to deal with the game the way it currently is.
I hope Thursday brings some fixes, but given what I’m reading, I doubt they’ll be substantive enough for me to change my mind.

No I’m not even close to R12. Factions has nothing to do with your SHIP TREE. You can still level your SHIP TREE up and get ships but you just can’t get the Mk3 tech levels for a while, which does not stop you from playing nor does it hurt you in the least. If your not going to play because your not any good with Mk2 Modules then you might as well not play because Mk3 gear is not going to help you out much. You are taking a position and you don’t even have an understanding on your own position. Your throwing a fit because you cant level up Faction and get a MK3 item, that’s all your missing out on. You can still get GREEN items which are one step lower than MK3 and if you wanted you could purchase a Gold Module but that’s not the route I would take but that’s up to you. They are going to make a change Thursday which will help it out even more. I was arguing the same point you are arguing until I just continued to play and realized that I made a big deal out of nothing so take it from me you are totally not getting it.

Can we stop this Mk2 vs Mk3 debate? It’s pointless. Blue is better than Mk2/Green, period. Granted it doesn’t stop a bad player from sucking, but on the other end of the spectrum, it makes a good player better. Thus, having Mk3 confers an advantage over those that don’t have it. This is a mathematical fact.

So you agree that getting mk III is gonna take years.
MkIII = +/- 7% advantage on EACH module.
So yes you pay to win with your gold mods.
As far as I can tell there are currently two types of players who’re not negative on rep change:
-
Full on buy to win players who want a buy to win experience - to be able to dominate everyone who didn’t pay as much as they did.
-
People who already unlocked everything and don’t really care all that much about playerbase sticking around - they enjoyed it with small numbers before.
Regardless, devs already said that current system is going to be changed again, because gain is far too low. What remains to be seen is just by how much.
/ Teaching off. You can’t fix stupid. :bomber:

+1
Exactly my point.

Exactly my point.
I haven’t paid to win and I haven’t unlocked everything.
I think I have stated that several time but you keep ignoring it. I’m doing just fine in a T3 ship that I can’t buy any MK3 gear and I’m still kicking xxxx. I have it outfitted with Mk2 gear and 4 green items that I have gotten playing Scenario’s
So, here is my problem. Is there any way to get a capture beacons mission in arcade and not the other missions when I need one? I like arcade more than regular and being forced to play it because I get 6 games of the other 2 missions to do my capture X beacons contracts is BS. Have had it happen to me more than once now.
I am proably going to take a break from this game untill they fix it like others are. But this is because of questions I have asked my corp and friends. “is it bad I want to just kill my self as captain so the game ends sooner and I can do a mission I have contracts for?” and “I have a nuke and our captain is an intercepter should I just kill him?”. For the second one a corp member and myself both had contracts for capture beacons missions and were at 5 wrong games modes at that point. When a game gets to the point that I am concidering makeing the game not fun for my own team just so I can have fun I need to take a break.

Except you all missing the point that with previous system no-one was using Mk1 and Mk2 modules but was going straight for Mk3, grind money in lower tier, equipping ship in full blue (and occasional green/purple if lucky) and only then was joining higher tier battle.
There is also other mathematical fact - matchmaker assigns you to battle with equally geared players. Type /set cl_showMmQueueInfo 2 in the chat and look how tiers are divided into 4 sub-tiers.
With previous system Mk1 and Mk2 modules were basically obsolete and sub-tiers were non existent during matchmaking.
Since Friday it become more fine-grained and actually that’s biggest profit for the game/match balance.
And to answer your previous argument with Quake - here no one stops you from playing certain ship - Faction Reputation gain is unchanged. What’s more - in every tier there is selection of all ship types. So no one is forcing you to fly ship you don’t want (assuming you don’t want to fly T4 full Mk3 geared from the very start ofc), with maintaining healthy vertical climb and what more - you can always come back to previous tier at no cost if you fancy it.
There was a statement that someone joined a game but his friends are too high tier now and it’s going to take him ages to get to their level. But no one throwing such arguments tend to notice that high tier players can easily join your lower tier battles to actually help you level up faster.
Seriously, answer yourself, what previously would make you spend money on Gold gear if getting MkIII was a matter of one day if not less? What was your thought when finding Military gear? Because mine was usually “Meh, another green, I’m full MkIII anyway - where are my purples damnit! *sell*”.
What current system brings is not only balancing and fine-graining matchmaking but also repopulating “middle class” battles, making MkIII gear actually a stepping stone in vertical progress scheme and making Premium gear worth buying. Not to mention Green Military gear being a meaningful find finally…
So maybe stop thinking about only your personal gains but look at a little wider perspective of what is going to improve in a long term.
P.S. For those who try to argument that only already geared people are defending the idea, because it hinders those who started only recently - I’m willing to wipe current account any time and start from scratch to prove you wrong. No to mention, that I still play T1 and T2 battles anyway as I simply find them more fun than T3.
