Loyaltly increased for Contracts ***UPDATE***

Except you all missing the point that with previous system no-one was using Mk1 and Mk2 modules but was going straight for Mk3, grind money in lower tier, equipping ship in full blue (and occasional green/purple if lucky) and only then was joining higher tier battle.

There is also other mathematical fact - matchmaker assigns you to battle with equally geared players. Type  /set cl_showMmQueueInfo 2 in the chat and look how tiers are divided into 4 sub-tiers.

With previous system Mk1 and Mk2 modules were basically obsolete and sub-tiers were non existent during matchmaking.

Since Friday it become more fine-grained and actually that’s biggest profit  for the game/match balance.

Factually incorrect:

  1. The only way to “skip mk1 and mk2” is to fly naked. You know, like people who bought steam pack and went in with T3 naked ships into the game. They were farm material even for T2 people who ended in the same game, and their repair bills must have been hilarious even with 8x reduction from gold ships.

  2. Matchmaker doesn’t care about gear. It only cares about ship ranks. Which is what you will see with that command. You can strip your ship naked if you want and have 1 naked R12 ship and 3 naked starter ships. It will show your queue rank as R12. Try it yourself before you spread lies and look like an idiot because everyone can try it and see that you’re lying.

You see there are four bars next to every Tier with two bars intersecting on top and bottom of each tier, right? It takes into account Tier and then your gear quality in that tier. I might take a detour and find devs quote confirming that as well if you really want to. Research before you talk.

Take that detour. Then come back telling us you’re wrong. This is extremely easy to check all on your own. You don’t even need dev quotes, all you need is to strip your gear from the ship and see that your ranking doesn’t change.

I’ve queued people in T2 and T3 ships with exceptionally bad gear from my corp into R12 queue as well. Our rating was always decided by one single factor: highest ranked SHIP in the squad. Equipped gear, other ships, implant levels - none of these matter to the match maker.

It’s pretty obvious why too. There are not enough players in matchmaking to fine tune it. That’s why you often get mixed T4 and T3 fights when you queue as T3. That’s why T4 anything and T3 regular still gets bots in almost every match.

P.S. I’ve used that as well as verbose log since about a week after I started the game. You have no clue what you’re talking about. I happen to be fluent in russian so I follow the russian forums and their “ask the devs” thread.

Great, can you help us on the wiki ?

Russian wiki is outdated. It’s actually one of the biggest problems with it - it still has old, long changed CBT info.

i know. But then again we need some translating of backstories and such.

Believe me, you don’t want them. You know how there are A-rated movies and B-rated ones?

These stories are not even Z-rated. They’re what you find at the end of ASCII character chart-rated.

As I understood, they plan to rewrite a lot of it eventually and current stuff something that got thrown together in a few hours. Well, at least it read like something I could throw together in a few hours and my best effort at space fantasy was a lyceum essay about 15 years ago. Far more interesting was forum drama when some users wanted to write decent lore themselves.

Only obvious thing for me is that you argue here for the sake of arguing, basically repeating what I said using different words.

You can’t have MkIII gear equipped without reaching mid-rank which unlocks that gear quality in any given Tier, implant levels = rank of ship you use (as higher rank implants don’t apply effects even if unlocked), it uses best Tier and geared ship in your roster as you can choose which of 3 ships to use during match.

It’s obvious that if you take T1 player to your squad and start game with T4 ship equipped it will throw you to T4 game. Idiots who do that can only blame themselves for queueing paired with starter ships to high stake matches.

If you strip T2 ship off all gear you have much more teammates and enemies having also T1 ships in their roster. That probably applies also to T3 (assuming that MM works consistent for T3 and T4).

No one argues about T3 and T4 being mixed up, because reasons for that are also pretty obvious - these tiers (T3 MkIII and higher) are in one “pool” for MM because of low population playing T3 and even lower population playing T4.

The only way to “skip mk1 and mk2” is to fly naked.

Don’t know what you mean by that. Skipping Mk I and Mk II in pre-0.7.10 system was to grind lower tier battles until you have money and sub-faction rank high enough to buy all MkIII (blue) gear you needed/wanted for higher tier ship, and only then enter higher tier battles.

It essentially means MkI and MkII gear as well as Premium gear was obsolete. MkIII gear in any given tier was too fast and easy to get without even flying one match in that tier.

Try it yourself before you spread lies and look like an idiot because everyone can try it and see that you’re lying…

I fear that your fluent Russian might bear same reading comprehension issues as English, hence I see no point of quoting anything from RU forum here. Not to mention searching through nearly 500 posts to find where either Medvedev, Flirig or Skula wrote about queue system.

You might want to reconsider your tone, though. Insulting and name-calling won’t make yourself look smarter nor your arguments more valid. Quite contrary.

Over and out.

One last try at getting through to someone who appears intentionally obtuse.

Observation:

Naked T4 ship = same matchmaking rating as Mk2/Mk3 gearead SAME ship.

Naked T3 ship = Same matchmaking rating as Mk2/Mk3/experimental geared SAME ship.

Hypothesis:

What matters for matchmaking: Rank of highest rank ship currently slotted in your hangar.

What doesn’t matter for matchmaking: EVERYTHING else, including but not limited to:

  1. Gear

  2. Being in a squad with people who do not have ships of higher rank then your highest ranked ship

  3. Random people on the internet claiming otherwise

Testing procedure:

  1. Enable verbose matchmaking

  2. Strip all gear from your ship. Queue up. Take note of your matchmaking rating.

  3. Slot best possible gear on the same ship. Queue up again. Take note how your matchmaking rating stayed the same.

  4. Join a squad with any number of people that have ships of same or lower rating then you. Queue up again. Take note how your matchmaking rating stayed the same.

  5. Read this thread, focusing on posts about gear affecting matchmaking rating. Queue up again. Take note how your matchmaking rating stayed the same.

Conclusion: hypothesis is correct.

If you still wish to pretend that hypothesis above is somehow false, I would suggest you bring significant evidence, preferably of the kind that anyone including myself can reproduce, as is the evidence provided above. Until then, I’ll have to assume that anyone, including yourself can run above testing procedure in about 3 minutes reproducing the results, and any claims otherwise have to be backed by significant evidence.

On a final note, when I took my lyceum finals, I scored higher then most english native speakers do on that test in english. Hence I would argue that my reading comprehension is in fact fine.
