Laser guns are currently the way to go no matter what race you fly due to the fact that they have no travel time and sacrifice very little damage to obtain this.
I propose that they consume energy to fire as a penalty for their perfect accuracy.
not true as such an invalid point. a) you sacrifice a lot of damage
b) once shields are down you have to hit the enemy hull prefectly which isn’t all that easy with smaller ships
c) plenty of people don’t use lasers
Most people don’t know if you scroll zoom you can hit even interceptors with heavy lasers easily.
And I’ve never had problems dodging rail guns or plasma cannons in a fighter.
