It always struck me that Jerry ships don’t have open, visible cockpits. Without transparent materials to look through, clearly Jerry pilots are aware of their surrounding via some other means.

As a long time Ace Combat fan, the first thing that came to mind was the Connection for Flight Interface or COFFIN system. The same system that the superplane ADF-01 FALKEN uses, along with other futureplanes from Electrosphere.
The idea that Jericho pilots, are within completely sealed cockpits and get all visual data from cameras on the exterior of the ship and fed into screens is fascinating and lore consistent.

I just love thethought of a Jerry pilot hooked up to a bunch of sensors and equipment and controlling their ship not with a flightstick, but their mind.

My Ace Combat fanboy’ing aside, thoughts on Jericho pilots having something like the COFFIN tech?
AFAIK Jerry ships are strictly remote controlled, by the lore. But sealing the pilot(s) from the external surface and putting him/her/them in the most protected part (next to the fusion generator probably :Dwop ) would be a pretty sensible thing to do, and many sci-fi does just that. It’s stupid to risk the pilot when he probably already has a processed visual (like the locks and item rectangles). Cameras > human eyes. So we can conclude that Federation guys are stupid.
[Ace Combat 3 tech intensifies]
You have my attention.
The same idea came to mind when I first saw that Jerry ships have no open cockpits. Although I imagined their interface would be more along the lines of what the Falken and the YR planes in ACX used, rather than a full-on COFFIN like what everyone used in AC3. That would make sense to me, particularly for their frigates.
Also, General Resource master race.

No. Fede pilots use the Force!
Jericho ships have internal cockpits, not remote controlled. As observable in all of their frigates there is one detail that can be seen at least once in the ship. Tihs is also the case with some of the fighters (the machete and katana series) although I have no spotted a similarity with the interceptors yet.
And I’m assuming that they get visual feeds from cameras mounted over the ships surface (and on the guided torpedos assumably) that display inside of the ship so that the pilot can have an extended field of view rather than a limited on from just a glass canopy (this doesn’t matter ingame).

These are plasma engines for sure. They even have fuel now. mmm helium, or hydrogen. Sittin on that tank will keep your butt chilly. O wait, until you fuel!

Have you heard of cold fusion? Only a couple thousand Kelvin :Dwop (instead of a couple million)

If your entire fuel tank is getting that hot, I think you’ve got bigger problems on your hands. Or butts. Not that it matters, as a fine red mist.
Jerry ships are all RC, except for the latest ships; Sawtooth and Cutter.
And there is this amazing IRL engine called the Hall effect thruster. Uses ionized elemental gasses such as helium and argon and stuff as fuel, and the fuel consumption is near to nothing.
