Seriouslly, been farming rating for three days striaght now, I am not even that high, currently on 11XX and I find my self with SEVEN KILLS and FIVE ASSISTS and yet I find my self losing 12 rating with ONE SINGLE DEATH?!?!
How does that even make sense? It’s mocking my intellect, who the hell made that stupiud no sense system? seriosully?
It’s not even LOGICLY realistic or any close to ANY other rating system I’ve seen in my life, this is just the worse of all, the ONLY way to get high rating is to NEVER die and play lame without give heck about your team or support anyone, just hit and run.
In the last 3 days I’ve been at 1280 rating 4 times and dropped down by random players, 99% of the fights I die MAXIMUM once per battle and yet I find my self losing rating.
The game is flawless and so good, addictive and really nice machines but then again that rating system alone makes me want to remove the game and feel sorry spending 80$ for it.
I am playing for rating and PVP, I don’t do anything else in games but this one is so broken it’s make me feel like I better not say.
Above all seems like the moderators don’t even bother to explain how that system work and or if they are even going to change it, seems like they are 100% fine with it and think it’s skill based but so far it’s hit and run and ignore your team rating, not actual skill.
Seriouslly if that system is not going to change then I doubt I will play this game much longer.
First, I agree rating doesn’t mean much at the moment. It doesn’t mean what many people think it does - as it doesn’t represent skill whatsoever. However, since this is a competitive PvP game, people will closely observe their and other people’s ratings and a lot of people do care about it. This isn’t a problem by itself, as long as the rating system would be a fair reflection of people’s contribution and performance - both in terms of kills and matches. However, it is not.
As it stands right now, due to some people caring a lot about their ratings and how the system works - it’s promoting poor teamwork and a very cowardly style of play. A lot of people will shout “it’s a problem with the people” - but it doesn’t really matter whether or not that is the case. Fact of the matter is that we can’t change thousands of people - but we can change the system and thus encourage people to play in a much more team orientated manner.
Seriouslly if that system is not going to change then I doubt I will play this game much longer.
You make a correlation between a (meaningless) statistic and the fun of playing a game? Dont trust the DSR, its useless. If i have the choise between a teammate with a dsr of 2000 and an other with 900, but this guys deploys in a great teamwork 3 times the detonation bomb (and get killed after it => dsr goes down), i would like to play with the 900 dsr player.
If you think, most people think about a player as a newbie because of a bad dsr, you are probably right. But this so, because they dont have a clue of the game. I guess the hype of the dsr comes from these most efficient corps, everybody knows. But these guys dont fly in a retiring manner, they kill everybody because of superior teamplay (and i could add: superior knowledge).
So lets try to be better teamplayers and not lonly wolves, running for the next kill steal.
But perhaps EvilTactician is right, you cant change people, so we must change the system
DSR = how efficient you are at dying and what rating the enemy pilot who killed you had (sucks for you that a rookie with 800 DSR caught you at 10% hp).
This is a useless rating that serves no purpose other than to tell other people how often you kill and die. That’s it. It plays no role in objective accomplishment nor on your skills, as a pilot, working toward the match victory, as a whole.
DSR is just meaningless meta-game for few non-team-players, that want to compete in something else than what rest of us compete about in Star Conflict.
You can play to get moar DSR, ignoring win. You can play to win, ignoring DSR. Pure meta-game inside a game. Just another option for some, just like someone might have a goal of collecting 1000 Fear Me! -medals or buying all stickers there are. Useless meta, but those whom like it, can have it (as long as they don’t think it really means much for the rest of us
