IR Pulsar aggro

I was just thinking about this after I mentioned it to an ally, and I thought it strange that activation of a defense module gave you aggro status. I understand why, but it’s just strange. Maybe it just shouldn’t apply aggro to either party and be used as a sort of warning or something.

Tips tricks and comments are appreciated.

IR pulsar is an aggro module, projects the same effect as white noise jammer, a tactical advantage module. The code for the effects is the same and it can be used in the same way too. Aggro should remain.

Personally never used it, i prefer to go invisible to radar and RT when in danger.

Same, but if you have like the entire team locked on to you, IR+EM+RT=Greatest escape ever.

let me rephrase that

RT +Purple Coils w/vanadium ammo (RoF) + Torp + EM = Greatest escape ever.

More like IR pulsar + moar better positioning. And maybe a relevant resist multipurpose. Double maybe relevant regen multipurpose.

IR pulsar is op imo. it should be 10 seconds tops.

If you don’t like the length of it, you have 3 choices:

  1. Put on a proton wall or 2 to reduce the duration

  2. Don’t lock on to LRFs

  3. Suck it up like the rest of us

It’s never stopped me killing them, careful missile aim is key, as well as a plasma arc up the xxxx

@Arcticpony: Or get a feel for shooting without a lock… Dont tweak weapons characteristic for some time and you will get used to it, you know, projectile travel time, prediction pointer movement and stuff… or put on lasers, who needs a lock when you have lasörs.

+1

I’m a pony! WHOOOPEEEE!

or should i say whiiiiiiiinny neigh neigh clip clop clip clop.

its just annoying to have like 16 seconds of no lock and it saying it right in my screen. distracting.

That’s the entire purpose of the module, to be annoying. IR pulsar is better and worse than EM scattering. IR Pulsar is good when lots of people are locked on you, as you will prevent that many people from locking on to you or anyone on your team for X seconds. EM scattering is good if you don’t want to be seen. I personally prefer IR pulsar over EM scattering, because it is annoying.

and we all know how much you love to be annoying :stuck_out_tongue:

it only really hurts ecms and tacklers. and occasionally emp lrfs.

Well here is my perspective, until the game has a way to see karma and such of a pilot without locking, it should remain an aggro device.

It actually hurts anyone who uses weapons that require aiming ahead (rails, positrons, coils, etc.) IR Pulsar is very effective on lrfs used as heavy gunships, as they get locked a lot. EM scattering is better for long-range beam lrfs or postiron snipers.
