I was playing with my frigate and having fun when i realize my ship was as slow as a pig, i decided to try out the “dagger” my first interceptor. It had only 5000hp which is completly different from my frigate with 22000hp. Then i played around with it to test it, was happy beause was free and jumped into battle. *Pew pew* *looping* boom dead. Do i suck? any tactica or idea to help? I think my best score is 1mn in battle.
I romp in with 2000+ effectiveness quite regularly.
I use a Recon, Microwarp to beacons and cap before the enemy gets there, gather assists like the old Command ships used to.
Covert Ops is much harder to play but they are murderers used right.
Haven’t had a proper go at ECM yet but they beat my Recon in a dog fight.
The utter rubbish you hear on these forums.
They don’t win games on their own like they used to, fighters catch up eventually.
Congratulations on parasiting your team. If you were to leave the game and someone else to enter in a frigate, they would be much more useful then your assist collecting with AoE pinger “debuff assists”.
Not going to even talk about useless ECM (get ion missiles on an actually functional ship) and covert ops that “murders”… itself?
IMO it’s that something needs to be done about Intie damage at t3, t2 is the last place they really belong
At t2 the damage, resists, and healing is manageable that interceptors can find a place, especially since they’re fast enough to constantly engage in a large circle, not solo engagements, that’s stupid, but as support damage to anyone who requires it. All it looks like t3 has in store for Interceptors is that they get that super sweet flight speed, and absolutely nothing else going for them.
Gimme a Covert Ops mod to strip my targets resistances to 0. Not like the Tackler Painter, let it work in conjunction with it to balloon resists to the negatives, then we can deal with the swarm of guard frigates.

You know those Bacons everyone talks about?
Those win the game.
Go whole games not seeing not a single Frigate on them.
I’m the guy capping them while you get kills and lose games.
You trade speed for hp - 1 or 2 well placed shots can take you out in an interceptor.
You have to be more aware of your surroundings and use cover to close in on the enemy or take them unawares (both recon and covert ops can cloak). It does take practice and a skilled sniper can still smoke you. Don’t hug a frigate/fighter’s tail unless you’re using plasma arc at the beginning of battles as most carry mine layers and even other interceptor’s can carry proximity mines.
I really disliked interceptors when I first tried them, but they’re superior for capping beacons for contracts and I prefer the Covert Ops for attacking enemy captains, which is what wins matches.
Ultimately, play what you enjoy. For me, that’s either flying in a slow frigate with big guns pew pewing interceptors…or flying interceptors and pew pewing slow frigates :).
In T2 you can easily 1v1 even 1v2 with a Cov-ops. The only ships I have a hard time with 1v1 in my cov ops are guards and commands.
I suggest you try out a Cov-ops.
Active mods:Orion, Adaptive and suicide
passive mods: Emergency barrier and collision comp
Also get the fed tier 6 implant for a +50% crit dam since in a cov-ops you will have near a 50% chance to crit and the empire tier 5 implant for even more maneuverability
Collision comp will increase your maneuverability to stop enemy’s from getting a bead on you. The emergency barrier will stop the giant insta-kill hits you may take. If you get in real trouble use adaptive camo to get outa the area safely. Orion Targeting complex will give you a very nice damage increase for taking down larger prey and last but not least if all else fails get near some enemy’s and suicide.
Vs frig: pop orion and plasma web. Then get in close trying to stay to the rear of him. Feel free to drop a prox mine in there path as well.
Vs fighter: Use your maneuverability but don’t be predictable in your movements. stay close to them, they cant turn as well as you. Orion and web help greatly here. If he decides to circle with you drop a prox mine.
Vs Inti: its anybody’s game you will both be moving so fast that it will be hard to get a bead on the other.
In T2 the Cov-ops can be a real threat in most all game modes,
I play a CovOp without selfdestruct and plasmaarc and it works . A friend of mine is playing ECM so damn effective that i would call them OP *kidding* . WarAddict , above, and others ive seen play recon effectively.
But yeah running solo into a guard lets every ship look useless :smoke:
Im not saying you are wrong Luckyo if you just speak for yourself , but plz dont generalize it into no one can play interceptors any more since 0.8 :dntknw:

“Can play” means you can select the ship. Everyone can obviously do that.
On the other hand “can be effective and help the team” does not apply to interceptors outside a couple of niche roles in squads as of typing this. And before you start breaking spears in rage over this comment, do note that one of the devs (Anvin7) has admitted this on the russian side of the forums already. According to him there are only 3-4 effective ship classes in the game and the rest are very underpowered. Considering that most ships used are engineers, guard frigates, command ships and gunships, you can probably figure out the rest.

You welcome to your opinion (No rage here, lol) however in T2 using a Cov-ops I would completely disagree. I consider myself to be a average player skill wise and ill more often than not end up being in the top 3 for kills and points in any game mode. In my opinion if they were to buff the cov-ops at all in T2 it would be op. I can’t speak for the ECM or recon though as I dont play them. Often I see Inti’s trying to play like a fighter or frig., they will fly in a straight line or stop completely and rotate while firing. They are a completely different play style than the other classes, they need to be played in a run and gun style.
With that said the T1 Inti’s are very underpowered and I find that the superior dog-fighting ability of the Inti is lost in T3 due to insane tanks/healing of all other ships as for T4 I dont know yet. So I would agree that the Inti needs some love in all other tiers besides T2.
I will post a video of me flying Covert Ops. to show everyone the changes that affect us all.
Im a veteran of the interceptor. At the moment Interceptors are on the low end of the power bracket. Though about 2 months ago they were on the high end and nearly unstoppable in groups.
I fly regularly with the interceptors and have had to adapt to the recent changes. We cannot be the force to reckoned with anymore.
We are now very rare to see in battles and usually, I have to actually use my role as a covert ops like a real covert ops would. Come in, come out, crush, kill, destroy, swag.
