I will post a video of me flying Covert Ops. to show everyone the changes that affect us all.
Im a veteran of the interceptor. At the moment Interceptors are on the low end of the power bracket. Though about 2 months ago they were on the high end and nearly unstoppable in groups.
I fly regularly with the interceptors and have had to adapt to the recent changes. We cannot be the force to reckoned with anymore.
We are now very rare to see in battles and usually, I have to actually use my role as a covert ops like a real covert ops would. Come in, come out, crush, kill, destroy, swag.
0.8.1. Is massively buffing the interceptors on many fronts. They are getting:
~5% more top speed with afterburners.
~17% more speed without afterburners (effective speed under propulsion inhibitor). This goes for all ships.
Afterburners are getting nerfed across the the board alongside the implant so that for non-interceptor ships speed on afterburners stays the same as before. This also goes for all ships.
Module buffs (lower CD, higher efficiency) across the board.
25% more hull and shields for interceptors.
Reading the patch notes, EMP may actually get a playable niche as a shutdown bot with fairly low CDs that it will get after buffs. Rest will likely still remain crap that they are now regardless of changes, as healing is actually buffed even further and speed increases for everyone are likely to get more people to pick up stabilized railguns which demolish interceptors regardless of hull and armor buffs.
And btw, interceptors in groups were “unstoppable” against randoms. Against squads you got a frigate ball with stabilized railguns which tore interceptor groups to pieces.

Well this has will make me need to adapt to these changes. I JUST got used to the nuking with flying with my Experimental Emergency Sheild, and making my ship to have 698 M/S speed.
Now your saying that its gonna buff the speed for ALL people? well I say bring it on. Usually people cant play that fast or aim as well past 500 M/s. But thats just me, I have been at it for about 7 months now…
Well, it looks like the upcoming patch is gonna get me excited…or make me quit. We will see.
For fighters and frigates they’re nerfing burners but upping base speed by the same amount, so their maximum speed will remain the same. I don’t think you’ll have to worry about fighters zooming around at ridiculous speeds (well, no more than you did before anyway). In fact, the nerfing of the rank 9 Cheetah implant should slow things down a bit if anything. Only interceptors will get a maximum speed buff, because they’re getting the same treatment, plus an extra 5% base speed too.

The pre-module speeds without afterburners for everyone are getting buffed. With afterburners, speeds stay the same, except that interceptors get a 5% buff.
However lightweight hull has been nerfed by 20%. That means that you’ll probably end up with approximately ±zero on interceptor if you’re using that and go into negative with other ship types.

Gunships still remain fastest ships in the game without slotting any speed increasing mods, or with them.

Wait. What do you mean? Fastest with out any additional equipment? Or just in general? Cause if its the ladder then your sadly mistaken my friend. Can you really beat 700M/s? Thats the max speed in the game…

Gunships currently possess two modules (special module and class module) that significantly increase their max speed. As a result, they have been fastest ships in the game by far from release of 0.8.0 without any need to slot any passive speed-related modules.
That is also one of the main reasons why Wolf-M is junk-tier as a gunship, outclassed even by R6 imperial gunships when not counting implants. Federation is about speed and energy regen, and gunships have far more then they need even on imperial gunships.
Yeah, but there using energy to gain a “Temporary” speed boost. Interceptors stay fast all the time with near infinite Boost.
I am yet to recall a single instance in the game where I could have actually needed the extra speed and didn’t have it on a gunship. I can outrun almost all T3 interceptors when shifting beacons on mk3 engine overcharge alone (600m/s at 9/10 synergy and zero engine mods), and I’m faster and more maneuverable (not to mention have far more firepower) then interceptors when I arrive at beacon because of overdrive (>600m/s speed with far superior maneuverability).
If I need to max out, I can just activate both modules at once and I will go 700m/s unless I’m suppressed. And under suppression, I’ll outrun everything on my team because my max speed is hilariously over 700m/s.
Have you been in game lately? You do realise there is a limit of 700 M/s, right?
What I’m trying to say, sure you can “temporary” be an interceptor, but you will never be able to “truly” dogfight with out the higher base maneuverability stats that interceptors already have.
Im starting to not like you. But in good sportsmanship, I challenge you do a DUAL!
Fight me Luckyo! I want to test my skills against you and your fighter. (T3 of course)
Fight for glory, honor, bragging rights, and the privilege of eating a sweet roll.

What do you say?
Add me in game and ask me when I’m online next time. I’m not interested in any of the things you offer, but I don’t mind playing for sheer fun of it.
