Interceptor Guide

You haven’t seen the videos?  I’ve noticed it on frigates sometimes because of the videos.  While flying interceptors I mainly used expert mode which seems to eliminate it.  I think it’s mainly just a major distraction.  You ship flies forward, the display keeps moving while you fly straight.

Shouldnt everyones implants suggest speed over everything when flying an interceptor. This build will help your other ships but you will lose about 10K HP on all your ships, but gain near insane amount of speed.

There is no point in straight forward Cruise speed when you dogfight a ship that has 2x agility than you, all you can do is run away if you still alive. I find the biggest advantage of multiple Engine slots on an interceptor is not a massed out cruise speed but the rotation+acceleration

Mmm, Im gonna use this advice.

Im gonna try that out. See if I improve or not.

Acceleration is extremely good for siege matches.  Pure speed only matters for being the first to a location.  As the game’s progressed, I feel acceleration is more important than speed, unless it’s the difference between 400m/s and 700m/s.

I favor pursuit and hit & run tactics so max speed is more important in my builds. I tried rotation and acceleration but they were too situational for my taste.

I can definitely see why you would go down this route, though I agree with Kostyan on this one. Speed differences only become apparent when you have to pursue over 1km+ distances. I actually find this scenario more situational than others where agility will prevail over flat speed (e.g. close-range engagements).

Hairpin turns are part of what makes interceptors so aggravating to deal with. Rotation/strafe is critical for this.

The easiest way to shut down an interceptor is to take away its speed. Since we, as interceptor pilots, can’t prevent incoming stasis, engine inhibitor, etc., our best chances of recovery come from acceleration once the debuff has worn off.

Even more so for ECMs. Good acceleration is a lifesaver if you get surrounded while you have your metastable field on.

Tier 4 Inty Builds - Please note, these are all my personal builds, and in no way am I saying these are the best builds, this is just how I would fit them.

Don’t use the Jericho Inties at all as are pants in my opinion

booo >:V

i personally find microlocator conflicting with extended sensor ranges, i never equip both in the same time

I have levelled the Origato AE to rank 12 though - Just dont like the feel of it

And the micro locator is for planting at beacons for free assists

It really has no other use, tbh…

there is some use in capture the beacon/combat recon to prevent flanking (if you dont have extended range though), but for the most part yeah

*very guilty*

I used energy absorber on an ECM the same way.  If other modules are on cooldown, I’d steal a debuf assist with energy absorber.  It’s more often I’d use it to steal an assist than to use it “properly.”

I would disagree. The locator has a lot of quiet potential.

Need to rip someone out of cloak? Drop a locator. An ECM wingman will appreciate your interception of an invisible target.

It takes away the strength of surprise attacks and forces Tacklers and CovOps to think twice about that hit and run because they won’t be able to escape as easily as they would with invisibility.

Sensor range is one thing, but large enough obstacles like asteroids and debris will hide enemy ships even if they’re only a couple thousand meters away. Having a locator behind these obstacles gives you increased map awareness, as Kostyan alluded to, granting your team more time and information to make decisive plays.

If you didn’t Drone him at the start of the fight, you deserve to lose his death points. I find the Beacon cooldown too precious just to decloak a single individual in the middle of nowhere. Of course, if said “middle of nowhere” happens to be an area between 2 Beacons, I’ll be the first to immediately drop it and give them no chance to even think of cloaking, let alone fly in there.

Yes, dropping Beacons around the map is a good idea when it’s heavily clouded by asteroids, as well. Whenever I fly Recons, I just drop them near the Bomb spawn or between that and our Stations. I also drop them near Beacons so it can decloak any approaching ships. Or on enemy spawn areas, so their LRFs don’t cloak or friendly ships know where they’ll move before cloaking.

That’s about it. I don’t think there’s anything else beyond this.

My problem with micro-locator is that it takes up a slot and out of 4 Recon modules it is least valuable one (some very defensive/passive players might argue that it is better than invis), but in my opinion having one survival/restoration module instead of a micro-locator raises the possibilities for the aggressive play, you can be much-much more aggressive in your plays, you can go way deeper into the enemy lines and do your devastating thing. Especialy in T3, MK4 shield drain has 19(can be reduced even furtehr in T4) seconds cooldown. Since last patch i find myself more then ever harassing T3-T5 guards - drone on guard shield drain, start shooting+ 1 prox mine, a lot of the time that guard will activate a pulsar which will do absolutely nothing to you. Fall back, rinse and repeat. Your drone will guarantee that guard will not regain all that lost shield any time soon.
