I'm getting really sick of this Sh**

Why does that matchmaking have to suck so much? And no, this isn’t about a mismatch of tiers. This is about how you can’t even play the game until the game decides to let you.

So you just waited 5 minutes? Here, have a 2v2 with bots!

Screw you.

If that’s going to happen anyways, why not have it happen sooner? I would rather be playing than wasting time waiting for something to happen. Wouldn’t you?

I love this game but I absolutely hate the way it’s organized.

Here is my explanation of how to fix this problem.

[http://forum.star-conflict.com/index.php?/topic/21103-some-suggestions-for-improving-this-game/](< base_url >/index.php?/topic/21103-some-suggestions-for-improving-this-game/)

I have yet to be convinced that such a crappy system as is already active in the game is the best and only way to operate.

I would also like to add that there may be a bug after this most recent update. I constantly get “Matchmaking error Queue join attempt while in a game.” And I’m not in game. I’m not sure if it’s a bug or just the by-product of a stupid piece of sh** system.

Seriously. Make the game work before you even bother balancing or trying to add new content. This is the most frustrating game I have ever loved and I hate myself for it.

Edit:

I just had a 10 minute wait that resulted in “failed to find contract.”

I don’t understand the decision making process that led to this system. Please, someone, explain to me why they couldn’t have made the game work better.

Edit:

Is this a thing now? Wait 5 minutes, get “failed to find contract,” then get told you can’t join a game because you’re already in one? Seriously? What does it take to get this game fixed? Apparently a lot more than whatever resources these devs have.

Let me remind you that the game is stll in beta. As such, there will continue to be bugs and balancing issues. Please be patient.

Hmm, the OP has a point though.  The max time to wait for a match could stand to be a bit lower.  The OP put it best : “If that’s going to happen anyways, why not have it happen sooner? I would rather be playing than wasting time waiting for something to happen.”

True.  After a minute or two, fill the unused slots with bots and lets get flying.  Last thing you want is for people to log in boredom.  When its out of beta, and more people are playing then there will just be less bots and more good matches.  No reason for the long waits to fight bots at all, really.

I am well aware of this fact. That is why I am trying so hard to make sure these things get changed BEFORE the game goes live as a finished product. Though I may have come across as a bit harsh, it’s because I care about this game enough to want to see it succeed. And also I was frustrated because it was 5am and I was stupidly tired lol. But still.

actually it never says it’s beta on the steam game page nor on the login window. if one knows a little about the version numbers he knows if he actually sees the tiny version number in the lower left corner of the login screen.

i can not remeber where ingame it says it’s beta.

since the whole monetising features are in full effect one is led to believe by gaijin that this is a fully launched game!

the latest review site that was twittered by gaijin even said it was launched in february 2013.

but yes, the state of the game obviously is beta.

Version numbers are absolutely meaningless.  They’re for internal purposes only, they state nothing about genuine status.  How would you feel about a beta car?

The devs here can be quoted to have said that they are steadily moving towards version 1.0 which is intended, by them, to be the official release out of beta. Why don’t you do your research :stuck_out_tongue:

The users of a beta version are called beta testers. They are usually customers or prospective customers of the organization that develops the software, willing to test the software without charge, often receiving the final software free of charge or for a reduced price. Beta version software is often useful for demonstrations and previews within an organization and to prospective customers. Some developers refer to this stage as a preview , prototype , technical preview ( TP ), or early access. Some software is kept in perpetual beta—where new features and functionality are continually added to the software without establishing a firm “final” release.

Yeah, except for the part where the developers of this game have said THE GAME IS IN BETA AND WILL BE FULLY RELEASED AS A FINISHED PRODUCT AT A FORTHCOMING DATE once everything is running smoothly and they are happy with it.

I don’t understand what point you are trying to make here.

Maybe if they didn’t screw up the game they’d have more people in matchmaking. *cough*

No offense, but I’m beginning to think that all GMs are given a pre-written script of things to say in specific situations.

Usually some variant of: “We are still in Beta”, “Your concerns are being discussed”, “We are monitoring the situation”, and “Please be patient”.

Well… what do you expect them to say then?

Honesty and genuine constructive criticism instead of toeing the company line so they get their Game Master title?  Rename it to Game Moderator.

no offence, but if you can not realise/understand how much more content/features still in the work/has to be implemented, that this game is clearly in abeta state (btw clearly moving forward step by step) just shows how inpatient of a person you are, you just expect to come in and have everything right now, right away and you don’t care about anything around you.

You have to realise that whining like this will not make this game develop any faster, and if you can not accept to play beta that comes with disbalances and bugs just by nature of its state, how about you go play something else and don’t waste everyone’s time with childish whining on forums?

Back in the day where betas were still betas I would have agreed, but since this is a fully monetized full release (steam)/soft release (website) the customer opinion is not childish whining per se (although the way the OP is worded I tend to agree with you in this specific instance) but what counts. The market rarely gives a second chance. The “but it’s a beta excuse” in soft released games got old some years ago. IMHO.

Financing your work-in-progress Beta game is fine. You can be Beta while taking people’s money. I think that’s good practice for the industry.

But the lack of recognition for paid customers generally in F2P games is simply wrong IMHO. And what many game companies including Gaijin / StarGem is guilty of.

Certain things need to be supported by their customers before it should go live specifically those things where majority of paid customers can agree it’s core to their gaming experience. Professional companies actually announce, discuss and adapt changes with their playerbase months in advance of a major patch. Sony, CCP etc. They all do that. It doesn’t cost them money to do it and backlash from major changes are absorbed even before implementation ie. in the forums. Stupid hotfixes are also identified early by the community and 50-50 dilemmas faced by devs can actually be decided on more effectively - read- you get to poll sentiment before allocating resources to prototype anything.

This habit / culture / policy of Gaijin - keeping players in the dark all the way until 2 hours before patching is unprofessional.

Sometimes it’s inconsequential (can’t think of a case where it’s been that way, most patches changed alot of things)

But there are times people get burned.  Like premium ship devaluation. Now that was / is f’king wrong.

Alterations like that needs to be announced well in advanced. Compensation negotiated before implementation.

Way it’s done now doesn’t instill confidence in people. And it surely isn’t winning any new fans.

When I first found the game Global was filled with " I’m new. This game is AAWESOMEMEEe "  every few lines in-between off-topic chats

Now it’s moan-moan-moan for a couple hours before " How sell ship? This game good "

Gaijin is failing at PR, getting better at marketing still sucks at gauging priorities. When the Who-Wants-To-Be-GM thread got posted, I thought things were gonna start going the right way. Player feedback and priorities would get better representation and maybe a 2-way could develop where game changes get discussed prior to implementation. But from what Evil has posted here and there it seems it’s not likely to happen. And we’ll be stuck the way we are for the foreseeable future and have me read and post on silly It-Wont-Matter threads like this one just for the hell of it.

Wished they were a tiny bit more professional but that’s just like Miss Universe wishing for world peace and homes for orphan dolphins.

today - some matches with my R11s. (MM rating 41, which according to the graph is the borderline of NOT facing T15)

alot of 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 realistic matches. Some vs R15s. 66-70% win give or take.

and ONE match 10 vs 10.

Many times faced Lightbringers or w/e the R15 Empire gunship was called.

One of them was with purple gaus cannon and purple shield discharge. God knows how many more purples …

Do not get me wrong. I do not mind fighting R12-13s even if they are OP compared to R11,

but in 10 vs 10 match it is not all 1v1 u know.

Strategy/coordination > gear.

But when matched in 1v1 games …

I had a game where enemy had purple bubble gun and his bot also had that. both tacklers and since it was 1v1 I had no engi.

Lost 2 ships before I killed them both, but he got back on R15 guard.

So my complaint is the dead tier and 3v3 matches. Mostly with bots.

Do you have the MM graph activated? If not, enter this into the chat box the next time you play:

/set cl_showMmQueueInfo 2

That will show you your current MM rank, and the ranks of all others currently queued. It should help you to predict the next type of battle you will fight. If you reach the maximum queue time (currently 4min10sec) without finding a suitable match, the MM system will apparently stick you into a match with 1 to 3 other people and a bot or two. If you want to avoid this, just cancel your queue and retry until someone suitable appears on the graph.

I don’t think the MM system is broken so much as it is struggling to perform miracles with limited resources. If we had a larger player base, MM and Latency issues could be resolved as pilots could fight almost exclusively against others on their own continent with equally matched hangars. I implore you not to trash the game, but to attempt to help it instead. Put SC’s name out there and try to garner some more players. What’s the worst that could happen?

before 0.8.1 we had zero lag issues playing on one server located in Russia. They moved servers or changed something on their end since then and that caused all the crap we’re enduring currently. The network quality before that was absolutely perfect. it’s not a playerbase issue or continent.
