I hope for better stats in 2016

If the Russian player base is holding up, they probably don’t care about the American/English player base tbh (and to a lesser degree the European base). They can always relaunch in the future if game mechanics have improved and been validated by the Russian base.

But there is no evidence that the RU player base is holding up. The steam charts for this game would most likely be consistent with the entire player base. But even in the scenario that the RU player base IS holding up, then it can be looked at in one or both of these 2 ways:

  1. Devs don’t care about non-RU population.

  2. This game will fail as an international game.

In either one of these scenarios, there would be little to no chance of a successful international relaunch of the game, as any non-RU player would probably write scathing reviews on every gaming site ever (and Steam), and probably do whatever they could to stop people from playing it. If the devs want this game to remain international, they need to start an advertisement campaign. Simple as that…

That fact is this game will eventually die, the only question is when. Next year? 5 years from now? 10 years from now?

It’s absolutely true that WT is more popular and will last longer than SConf, in all likelihood. That’s OK, even if us fans don’t like it. It may even be OK from the devs’ point of view.

The game probably won’t die next year. I do feel that the non-RUS player base is less important from their point of view, but even if they shut down the US and EU servers it will survive on the RU servers for some time. This is like a doomsday scenario.

We have to keep in mind that they have repeatedly stated that the Steam pop is a small fraction of their player base, that it is a joke for them when we complain about Steam pop declining, etc. If we take their word for it, there is reason to believe that they are not really concerned about Steam per your point #1.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I’m feeling oddly optimistic and detached from the situation. Steam reviews have actually held up pretty well, so I wouldn’t be worried about what you mentioned right now. It’s pretty clear that they want to go in a different direction from our suggestions, so I’m willing to sit back and see how they do.

As am I, but you also need to look at it from the angle that if the devs get to the point where it becomes clear to everyone that my points 1 and/or 2 come to be, then I would bet that many players change their reviews for this game, as they will feel that the devs were biased, didn’t care about them, or the game.

Exactly. As I said earlier, Steam is a huge player base (125 million users). But yet, we’ve only tapped into less than 1% of that player base. With so many potential players there, for the devs to disregard the Steam population and call them unimportant is foolish and idiotic.

I agree that not focusing on the Steam player base and dismissing it is actually a huge missed opportunity. But the devs have commented on it numerous times, I don’t think that we’re going to change their minds about it anytime soon. We don’t have the full picture, so better to see what the Christmas release is and let things play out rather than repeatedly telling the dev team that they’re terrible and need to cater to the existing vet player base.

I don’t disagree, but removing squading from pvp is no way to cater to anybody. Most, if not all, players enjoy playing with their friends. Removing squadplay from pvp and designating it to Leagues doesn’t make anyone happy.

That’s probably true, I’m agreeing more on the squad play issue now than when the change was initially implemented.

Devs are aware of this and working on a solution
