I just saw this after I posted. Thanks for the advice! So it sounds like tier III is the mainstay tier of the game with tier V being the capstone and tier IV being an intermediary tier that is somewhat disliked. The Eagle S looks like the prem I’d be most interested in ATM. But don’t bother getting a tier II prem if most of your battles are going to be tier III?
Guy, you seem to just get it
Not many new players understand so much out of so little information. Yes, T3 is where the game is played atm. But that means in T3 you will find a lot of people with >5000 games, and in my opinion, experience > build/ship every day. T4 is not widely played, it’s as you said an intermediary. T5 is where people that enjoy/rely on heavy ship customization are.
About spending money tho, I recommend you buy one of the DLC packs, not standards, because this way you usually get the same amount or more of standards per cash value, + free premium ships that are indeed your money farmers + some premium subscription time that you would otherwise pay, + extra bonuses to credits/synergy after each fight, depending on the DLC. NEVER buy standards before you finish buying the DLC’s basically. Premium ships earn you more money + they cost no repairs. They also give you free synergy (that’s ship xp that you can use in any ship, you need to reach the cap with a ship to get it’s properties to max). T2 premiums won’t generate as much income as T3 premiums and so on, but on the other side you will be able to play with beginners mostly. In T3 you will already be in hell, skill wise.
Edit: Also the T3 premium gunship/tackler are top of the line for their tier/faction, some people may call this P2W. This does not apply to the other tiers, where the premium ships are just variants, not necessarily stronger, so that makes the T3 premiums the most effective of your buys.
My advice: buy a DLC that gives you a free T2, a free T3, and more gold than you’d normally get for the money. I think that would be the DLC with the Desert Eagle (has 25k gold?). It’s also the first thing I’ve bought and I’ve never regretted it.
Also, once or twice per year, they have 50% discount on all DLC’s. They also have a discount on premium licence very rarely. Everything happens in the weekends, but the weekend event is very random, you can wait for months before you get a discount on DLC’s or gold.
