Hello, I would want to see good Naga fits. Since I started playing Engineers by force (because no one in the team had any), I begun to like that support healing role a lot, and now it’s one of my favourites.
That ship has less hull slots than Minotaur and Styx, and “feels” pretty weak for an Empire Engineer.
In the other hand it has the best heals in the game.
To to make it a tanky frigate like Styx or Minotaur?
Post here your modules, implants and tips, I would like to know them. I am not sure if Armadillo is good on Naga, because it has 2 instead of 3 hull slots, I’m not sure what to put in those 3 Capacitors and 2 Cpus, and I don’t know what to do with the fact that Naga has 10% extra Critical Chance.
Strafe fit and EM/Kin resists. Avoid those pesky bubbles and their broken mechanics. But, tbh, the only difference between the Minotaur and the Naga are 3 implants.
In fairness, the drones should heal both armour AND shields, depending on where the rep is needed. I mean, they’re virtually useless for Empire Engies…

Wouldn’t that make hull tanking for engies even more powerful? Not that the drones are very powerful, but I’m thinking the sheer amount of hull points would last long enough to make the amount of healing significant.

It’s an extra couple thousand points. We already have different LRF mechanics for both Empire and Jericho, I see no harm is doing it like this, provided Federate Engies also get a tiny shield boost to compensate.
wait, 3 caps? 3 acceleration coils and coil mortar. i. just. would. want. to. try.
tbh i was asking myself the same thing when i looked at the tree, albeit loving fed frigs, the naga looks delicious to me, but i rather see the minotaur as the tankmaster.
You won’t make it so tanky as Minotaur, as it has only 2 hull slots. Minotaur and Styx have 3. But Naga has a bonus to its engineering modules efficiency, that’s where it beats others.
I’ll post a couple of examples from the Russian forum later.
UPD.
Implants:
White - recommended
Green - choose any
Yellow - to your taste, mostly useless
Crossed - useless
Modules:
- your way to increase mobility
(optional) - less damage from collisions and ram attacks
- for your blaster/mortar
- to make your lasers/positron cannon more dangerous
+ - not much choice with just 2 hull slots. Optional: (galvanized armor) x2, but in this case you’d rather stay behind and just buff others.
- the sooner you lock the target, the better.
The rest are mostly just the matter of taste or useless.
Active modules:
Nanodrone Cloud + Mass Shield Generator + Energy Emitter - a must-have
The fourth slot is up to you, I use Autonomous Repair Station or Nanocomposite Coating (tastes good with the 3rd implant of the 14th rank).
This is a compilation of recommendations by MoonLight & YellowSubmarine.
The Naga is currently the pride of my collection (despite having 15 ranks in Empire), and I’m glad to see a thread like this. I’ll take into consideration any recommendations here, as I’ve found my Naga to melt like crazy in a less-than-ideal PvP situation.

I expected more of you Capnic…remote heals only? No wonder you melt like butter.

Naga doesn’t have a module effect bonus right? Right now my Styx runs triple auras because of the effect bonus. I’ll be tempted to have both remote stations if I flew an Anaconda, so I can complement and support a Styx with triple auras.
Here’s my Naga build btw. I’ve posted it before but now it’s a few synergy lvls higher and with full mk4 heals.
Basically you want acceleration to activate your adaptive shield sooner and rotation speed to offset the Galv. hull. This ship is way more mobile than a minotaur will ever be and when at full speed just as tanky.
Using Fed R1 implant in combo with Kinetic resist, a Galvanized hull, and an Adaptive shield gives you over 100 resist in each category for hull. On top of that add the strongest heals in the game and no one ship is going to be able to quickly kill it. 495 hull regen/sec in addition to the resists means some of the time you heal faster than they can dmg your hull.
As for weapon stats…Positron is the next item i’m upgrading to mk4 but the main priority is the range.
If you hate getting swarmed, just try the T-rex instead. It has a ton more survivability (in practice, not on paper) because it can outrun any of the other frigates or fighters that are favored by the current meta. A competent T-rex pilot can avoid getting swarmed by anything that isn’t an interceptor or a fed fighter, not that fed fighters are actually used at tier 5. If you do get caught by an inty without allied support, do what damage you can then finish it off with a torpedo.
but thats not the kind of help you’re looking for.
The Minotaur is still an amazing engineer, from what I’ve seen, when played up at tier 5. It’s the best engi tank in the game and that makes it just plain better than the Naga in some situations.
but if the devs wanted to give the Naga another hull slot I’m all for it.
This is with R1 Armadillo. That + base resistances + Gigas II + Adaptive + aura (effect bonus + r10 jericho) = Enough time for my squadmates to kill the attacker(s)
Only until about 33% chance. Charged weapons can suffer with more.
Not necessarily. Besides, one IR scanner on naga doesn’t make Crit chance go above 30 (unless you have r2 empire implant)
Mobile, sure. Tanky? Not even close, minotaur has two shield slots. Even with adaptive shield naga can’t be as tanky as minotaur
I’ve found the Naga and Minotaur are two played two different ways. The Minotaur is more of a sit in one spot engi while the Naga is almost forced to stay moving due to it’s low hull hp.
