Here's a good suggestion...

Why don’t you stop deleting and locking the threads on Steam? Let people have their voice. This doesn’t make people feel comfortable about buying a product where the Dev’s are oppressing opinion, and it doesn’t make people who spent any money feel like they should continue to support your product. I would love for a Dev to elaborate on this as basically a lot of what is being discussed in the 0.9 discussion thread is not really being commented on. I hope that your silence means it is being taken in to serious consideration. That’s my 2 cents on the matter, but let’s see:

  1. You choose not to offer the Pirate packs on Steam.

  2. You let Steam offer your current DLC’s at a discounted rate

  3. You release a patch that basically negates a good majority of what those DLC’s offered

  4. You don’t change the wording on those DLC packs and you allow them to be bumped back to their Retail price

  5. You lock the Steam threads and outright delete any that question what is really going on here

  6. You hardly comment on anything being brought up as serious concerns, 30+ pages deep ([http://forum.star-conflict.com/index.php?/topic/20628-star-conflict-obt-v-090-discussion](< base_url >/index.php?/topic/20628-star-conflict-obt-v-090-discussion))

I won’t keep numbering my complaints as the forum can elaborate further for me. A patch will always have some complainers, but like always, people can learn to adjust. This…this is just something else right now. This is shady business dealings my friends. Outright shady.

1 - informed discussions are done here in the forums

2 - steam has more readers

Negative and uninformed opinions on steam has a damaging impact because people who read them there don’t come over here to get the details.

You call it shady, I say it’s a fair response because I’ve read comments on Steam and global and honestly i think alot of morons are typing xxxx just because. So how is it fair for the developers / publisher ?

youtube, android market, itune - they all take measures against uninformed and malicious comments. are they shady too or are they trying to remain fair ?

censorship of the masses…brilliant idea Kine… I don’t think you will find that in anyone’s idea of fair

I am not against people ranting every once in a while and I think having a section in the forums for that works pretty well (keeps ranting out of the discussion and suggestion areas), at least that has been my experience in past games, but regardless, ranting really doesn’t serve a constructive purpose and shouldn’t be posted in the areas open for discussions and suggestions. Instead of going on a rant, present your arguments in an informative fashion using data, so that the devs can factor it into their decisions.

Please click on my profile, click on my posts, and tell me that I have not offered many suggestions, alternatives, and posed many questions that seem to fall on deaf ears. I just want to know that they hear the community and that there will be change. I am not a singular voice here. Do me a favor:

  1. Go here: [http://forum.star-conflict.com/index.php?/forum/181-patches-read-only/](< base_url >/index.php?/forum/181-patches-read-only/)

  2. Now click on each patch page and then get linked to each Patch Discussion

  3. Now tell me I am wrong when there are the most continued conversation on the 0.9 patch (33 pages and going so far).

Sadly the only conversations being had on the 25 pages of the 0.8.5 patch is that people can’t have permanent cosmetic changes. Big deal, minor issues, right? Now tell me there are not genuine concerns by everyone on this patch. Prove me wrong…

This isn’t a rant. This is a cry for help.

I’m not singling you out Chino. Your inputs are one of the many I read and in-fact some of them mirrors my own.

I disapprove of censoring Steam very strongly, because what is happening there is their own doing, born of poor planning and lack of consideration.

Actions must have consequences. Or, as I like to put it, “with your freedom of speech comes my freedom to kick your teeth in.” When you say or do something that upsets your customers, you don’t get to silence the backlash; doing so just makes people like me, who are on the fence, lose faith and join the opposition.

This could all have been avoided. How? By telling us it was coming two, three or even four weeks ago. By making this information clearly and readily available - put a damn popup in game that’s the first thing we see as we login: “massive changes happening soon! Total rework of the game! Go here to read more!”

But we got no warning. Steam users got less than none; they’re not even told this is a beta. That feels dishonest to me, and I won’t bite when people try and blame Steam for that.

Gaijin dropped the ball. They don’t get to silence the people whose windows it broke.

  1. As stated in multiple replies across the forums - all required information was submitted to Steam. The actual ‘making live’ of the DLC there is in the hands of Valve.
  2. There was a summer sale on Steam and the Star Conflict DLC was quite rightfully discounted during this period. I’m not sure why you see this as a negative, would you rather have had it at full price during that period?
  3. The bonuses are still valid - this has also been replied upon by an administrator already. If you have any further suggestions, questions or comments about those packs, please let us know.
  4. All sales eventually end, that is the nature of a sale. If you find any incorrect or misleading text, please report it in a constructive way, including what you believe it should say, and I will at the very least forward it to the powers-to-be.
  5. If you have feedback or constructive criticism, that is what this forum is for. Steam is a third party platform and you’re shouting at the wrong people there. If you want the developers/designers to be aware of your feedback, this is the place to be. If all you’re after is inciting other players, you’re doing quite the opposite to trying to improve and support the game, you are actively trying to hurt it. If you have further concerns then I will have to forward them - as we have nothing to do with the Steam side of things.
  6. This is plain incorrect and even a short search will prove the opposite. There are countless replies from Error, Antibus and several GMs which address various issues, concerns and feedback from players. We’re also collecting all feedback and ensuring the developers are constantly aware of the consensus within the community. Changes don’t happen overnight - they need discussing, analysing, planning, programming, testing, etc. etc.

On everything else - you have a voice. You are using it right now. And we’re here listening to it. The people relevant to those concerns aren’t all on Steam - and that’s why it’s important you voice them here instead.

Except now the DLC is totally useless.   That’s right.  Totally useless.

  • Reputation is no longer in the game.

  • Premium ships have absolutely no value since they don’t actually help you progress in the game.

What do we have left?  Some titles, a 10% loyalty bonus and an extra loot chance?  HA!  Don’t make me laugh.

We as customers were totally ripped off with this one.  There is no doubt about it.  Yes, they can redeem themselves by fixing some of these issues, but right now I have lost all consumer confidence I once had with this company.  The steam backlash should really be no surprise.  Any other game would receive the same thing with this kind of disrespect to consumer purchases.

This is to address your response to #2, 3 and 4:

You knew you were going to be releasing a patch very soon. You also knew that this patch would directly affect the DLC packs, however you did nothing to announce that there would be a change, thus informing your customer that there might not be as much value in the pack as you may think.  I think the worst part about all of that is that you guys even state that you didn’t even have a plan in place to address the DLC packs, and only now are you “working on the DLC issue”. I feel you should have had a plan in place first, before you made any changes, and those changes should have already been included in this patch. Now you have a lot of us sitting on the fences eagerly awaiting a response and a plan of action. Most of us are thinking to ourselves, will they address this soon, or will they try and string us along for a few patches before they get it right? $150 for all 3 packs is no small amount of money by any means with respect to games. If I knew what changes were going to be made prior to purchasing anything, I could gladly offer suggestions. Without being informed, how can I tell you what to change? Myself and others have already begun adding suggestions on how to rectify the situation in the 0.9 discussion thread currently going on, so I hope that is being reviewed.

And on to point #5:

I think you are missing the point. There may be some people yelling at Steam, but from what I read before those posts were taken down, as well as what I am reading right now, people are commenting in a negative way on how a lot of this is being handled. I can’t really say I’m seeing anyone on Steam say “How dare you Steam”, they are saying “How dare you Gaijin”. You are silencing people from criticizing you guys. I think the people are voicing their opinions on Steam to steer them clear from a mistake right now. Since the DLC wording has neither been re-worded, nor re-worked, then why wouldn’t people want to go on Steam and tell everyone Beware!  I know it’s not Steam’s fault it is worded that way, and if you sent in a request to change, then at a very minimum, you should have made your own post on the Steam threads to announce yourself their as well (rather than just deleting and silencing the dissenters).

Except now the DLC is totally useless.   That’s right.  Totally useless.

Like stated in other topics and on Steam, the reputation gain was replaced by a bonus to Synergy gain.

Premium ships rack up synergy like any ship which has reached maximum synergy.  The premium ships get a bonus to this, compared to their free counterparts. This is still being balanced as evident by the change in the hotfix just today.

It has already been stated that the intention is and always has been to provide people who have made these purchases with the same value as when they made their original purchase - and this involves evolving the value along with any changes in the game.

thanks for relaying the info Evil, much appreciated. I humbly hope you get the point across to the team that a 1:1 reputation to synergy conversion rate is no where close to acceptable.

I bought a T4 premium to show support for the latest update. But it might as well be the last if Premium ship synergy doesn’t get back what we lost from the change in mechanics.
