I find that searching through my equipment to work out what I can/should upgrade (and what I should sell/salvage) is extremely time-consuming and inefficient.
There are two main problems:
1) when you mouse-over an upgrade kit, it only tells you what lower mod-level items you have for it, rather than listing all of them. If you check (e.g.) a green rail gun kit and get the message “Appropriate modules not available”, you don’t know if that is because you have no rail guns at all or because you’ve already upgraded all ten railguns to purple.
- The filters keep resetting when you do… something. I can’t remember if it is when you use a kit to upgrade an item, or when you salvage a module/kit. But either way, it means that if you are trying to sort out all the modules and kits for a particular tier/role, you keep having to reapply the filters each time, which makes for a lot of unnecessary mouse clicking, and can be quite frustrating if you have a lot of items to sort through. Especially if you are trying to work out what to get rid of to make space to buy a new ship.
To improve this, I suggest making three main changes to the armory interface:
- When you mouse over an upgrade kit, it should list all the different versions of that module, not just the ones that can be upgraded.
- Filter settings should not change until you yourself change them.
- There should be an option (tick-box) to display upgrade kits along with modules: i.e. if you filter the list to show T3 ECM modules, it will show the T3 ECM module and T3 ECM upgrade kits. And the kits will be listed immediately after the appropriate module, rather at the end after all the modules. I.e. it will look something like this:
Mk 1 Energy Absorber III
Mk 2 Energy Absorber III
Kit for Mk 2 Energy Absorber
Mk 4 Energy Absorber III
Mk 1 Energy Inhibitor III
etc
Additionally, it might also be useful to be able to filter by individual module type. For example if I want to display how many Heavy Blasters I have at all tiers, and don’t want to clutter the display up with all the other thermal weapons.
This would make it easy to see at a glance what gear I have, what can be upgraded, what doesn’t need upgrading, and what can be sold/salvaged.
Any thoughts?
