When someone is sniping, go after them, they are not unreachable. It is all about tactics, when someone is sniping at me i hide behind a rock till they loose interest, it gives the game an element of surprise, u sometimes just cant waltz into a beacon and take it whenever u please, oh wait there is a ship here i didnt see. U just have to fly smart and be ready for anything. I have got snipped plenty of times and will get snipped many more, it just makes me more determined to go after them.

high altitude, rock jumping etc etc

i never said its impossible to kill them, its just that the frigate blob routine is realy getting stupid and ruins the game.

especialy when people play the “lets see who can hide faster and have more frigs :D” routine

***** the only blobs that are annoying to me at the moment are the ones where there 4 or 5 in an opposing squad and all those frigates go from node to node and take it out aloung with anyone else who gets in there way, and being english speaking from america i dont get too many squad invites from cyrillic typing players, those big groups work as a team and have the ability to communicate as where i cant comminucate with mine but what can i do about it, either learn russian, quit playing or hope to get in a match with an squad that has a bigger blob than theirs, I understand ur frusration it is frustrating for me to lose all the time because of a language barrier because i cant coordinate with my team mates. There are alot of realy cool things about this game i just dont want to see it get nerfed again to any extreme because when that happens it will really not be fun, we will end up with space ships that are chuncking rocks lol. If u ever see me on suqad with me or vice versa and maby we can de blob some of those squads :wink:

The feedback of the players is collected and the devs are trying to do their best to fulfill the wishes of the community.

A lot of things which were requested by the community have been realized and this will go on in the future.

Snipers used to be easy to counter because sniping didn’t work up close. Interceptors lost about 100m/s with the last patch. Do you see anybody complaining about balance shifted to the sniper? Since Pretty much all non T1 ships lost HP a nuke is devastating. Yesterday I traded my interceptor for 4 frigs in an instant by pressing my right mouse button once. Yet, there are players who complain about the anti-missile system making my missile explode in their face. Am I supposed to no lose a single ship while taking 4 other ships out? Smart bombs where a problem because they could hit you through a rock. As a result you could die to two frigs that you couldn’t even see. A single ship in the open with a smart bomb fitted wasn’t a problem – until interceptors lost HP with the last patch.

There are huge problems in this game that any good player will exploit. As with most advantages you will rarely ever see them posted in public because no good player likes the idea much to lose an advantage. Let me give you one example that illustrates two problems at once. I rarely ever fly anything else then T2 ships. Mostly because the match maker will put me into a fight the fastest. That gives me an advantage because a) I will most likely have at least twice the XP then any other player on the field, b ) I will fight mostly players that didn’t level their ships up and c) I am more likely to get more then 10 kills in match because I’m not taken out by a nuke. As a result I get XP up very very quickly. Most games gain me at least 7kXP, many go above 10kXP. That gives me a bonus a novice player can’t have because he can’t skill that skill before he skilled all the other skills. (Another inherent problem that you get from skill trees in PvP games – a problem that could fill an entire article.)

And here we proceed to problem two. I have no reason to level my T4-1 ships because I will be in my T4-2 ships at the end of this week. Why are there T4-1 ships in this game? They are not better then T3-2 (in some cases they are even worse, having a nuke on a interceptor is to much of an advantage to miss out on that).

Yes the intercepters took way too much of a nerf, the word intercepters doesn’t quite fit the ship anymore and the HP loss was not necessary, they definitely need to be brought back up. Like I said in an earlier post, there is a reason I am working to reach a higher tier lvl of ship, each lvl higher is supposed to be greater than another but right now, even though there is a difference between T-1 and tech T-2 it’s not much maby a balancing was needed but the individual tiers got brought down too close to one another. It should be renamed T-1.5 instead of T-2. It should take real skill to be able to bring down a Higher lvl tier.

After thinking about it there is very little that can be done to actually get a proper balance for interceptors. Nerfing the nosfer … err … energy absorber was quite needed but getting the speed up again will get the problem back that you can’t move your mouse fast enough to track it. Before the last patch my T4 ceptor was moving with nearly 600m/s. You can’t possibly hit a ship that is orbiting you with that speed.

The underlying problem (not just to balance speed) is the binary nature of applying damage. You either destroy the ship in question or your action has no effect.

We just had a game with only players. My team had a full row of team mods. Since they effect anybody in range the match was a little … one sided. We finished with 25 to 7 kills (-ish). **** Every time somebody of our team (barely) made it back into cover he was right back to full shield and hull. The only advantage the opposing team had by bouncing off our sick remote tankage, was to run us out of missiles.

No matter what you do to this game, as long as shooting a ship only matters if it explodes you will have heavy balancing problems.

With more players on the server the situation will only get worse because of the non-linear time it takes to gain high level skills. A vet in a T2 ship will be like a shark in a pond. Getting HP up on ship ranks would make that problem worse. I believe that having skills that give you bonus to items doesn’t play well in a pvp-game if the game allows players of vastly different age to mix up in matches but forces a fixed team size. For some time having different skill levels of players in the same fight was working in eve-online quite well because a team of new players could bring more players to the field. That stopped with the introduction of capital ships and remote tankage.

The whole game suffers much from a problem we see in pretty much any game. Artwork is done so much faster then code. As a result we see lots and lots of overgeneralisation.

Don’t get me wrong. I really like how the game feels. It’s pretty much like Freelancer but faster and with more brains. Who would have thought you can take cover in spaceships? It’s just to easy to play the easy game to other players expense. Yet, if you play the hard game you will progress so slowly that it will be your expense for a very long time.

It is nice to see how deep this discussion goes, but starting to attack other forum members is the wrong direction.

I have removed/changed the offensive parts in your posts and please keep the war outside the forum.

And here a few things I want to clerify:

1)We collect the feedback from all players from new recruits to old veterans, because everyone should enjoy the game.

2)There is a russian and an english forum and both forums are taken care of when there are changes done to the balance.

3)There is a “special” tester team, but it is under NDA so you wont get much information about that.

4)If there are some urgent things you can always PM me or add me on skype.

5)Stay friendly and enjoy the game.

I tried to remove all offensive parts, but since it was late it could happened that I did not see some parts which could be offensive.

I also tried to keep the good feedback so you guys can go on with the discussion about the topic.

Perhaps you have a different view, that’s ok but don’t keep the discussion formal without any attacks.

1)I know that players dont notice that every time, but collecting feedback is a very difficult part, because with collecting there start a lot of different things.

  • Find out what the problem is
  • See what suggestions the players give
  • If there is more than one solution there needs to be a solution which isnt harming any side too much
  • Find a way to implement the solution

2)I think for now it is okey with 2 forums. Not every russian player is able to speak english and I also saw a few fights on gamechat because of the different languages so it is better to stay save.

5)I have removed the last things from the post which talk about the happenings from yesterday so we can finally go on with the discussion.

And a little suggestion from me, if you guys want I can invite you to our teamspeak and we can do some squad fights together;)

Hmmm… I think bringing the communities together and force them to handle with each other at an early point is better than dividing them by their language. Yeah… English is more common in Europe and North America than in Russia but non-English-speaking people aren’t that uncommon in Europe too. A single big forum with a big English based main forum together with language specific sub-forums would be the best solution, I guess.

But thats maybe more a question for the PR team than for a forum user. *g*

There are also a few other reasons why it is divided, but at this point I am not allowed to give out information about that.

I think my Arena Matchmaking in the suggestions section would be a good fix to the frigate blob problem, make the fights fair and with less people so that they are more entertaining for all.

My only complaint is having to level up 3 levels before gaining another ships.

It would be smarter to run level 2, gain another Light ship, level 2 gain an encepter, level 3 gain a heavy. and repeat with the next set of levels.

you would need more ships, but you can slow down by just adding more Exp required per level.

Jericho is excellent to play, smart players will combine Jericho with other ships to gain a perfect class to fight with.

Damage levels are very good. this compared to Closed beta changes this to comparing with World of Tanks (and WOW Beta) Obsolete!

Keep up the work, while there are still lots of bugs, such as needing to give squads real commands, this makes want to play, and expect more news and help from me.

About game balnce recentely i thought that one or maybe the most important think to work on are the team modules…

During fihts i just found that they can make some ships really invulnerable and match is decided in couple of mins…

I think team modules range and powers needs to be drastically reduced…Game is to much set on teams, this will bring back some nice dogfhiting finally and above all action in open space wich atm is just impossible to get.

Have you ever thought about that?

The game is planned to be for team playing. About the modules, I will do some detailed testing the days.

Some Modules are to strong and some are to weak, I totally agree with that.
