so i gained a small amount of galactic standards being a new player, now i have less.
i thought the exhange tab at the bottom right under the black market tab was an exchange from credits -> galatic standards. not the other way around. d’oh!

There aren’t any F2P games that allow bi-directional exchange between the gold currency and the currency you earn through gameplay.
The reason is pretty obvious but in case you genuinely don’t know:
The development of a F2P game is paid for with the sales of gold currency and other such microtransactions, with the hope it gains popularity and eventually turns a profit.
If bi-directional exchange were allowed, it would basically render the entire concept moot, since then nobody would ever have to pay for any of the content.

actually there are but the exchange rates are usually ridiculously high and can’t be paid unless your paying or have already gotten everything you need equipment wise and are at a high level.

For all intents and purposes that’s the same as just not having any reverse exchange rate if it involves getting ripped off like that
Best example imo is Star Trek Online: you have energy credits for buying stuff in shops and the exchange and you have zen-points for the $$-store. but you can farm dilitium with daily missions and pve-scenarios. and you can use that dilitum to buy things in a special shop OR USE IT TO BUY ZEN-POINTS. only limit is that you can refine only 8000 dilitum/day (price is ~200-300 dilitum per zen-point)

yeah I didn’t want to use the name but STO is primarily what I had in mind. Granted tho, if you know how to play the exchange you can get far more zen points by buying/selling dil
i get the whole thing about the standards and credits, but to be honest dont feel like spending my money in another ftp game that favors cash shop over free to play. as a total free player you are unable to not even be remote as competitive as people who spend money. good game but uninstalling and moving on

I find this statement both saddening and inaccurate as hell.

There is no P2W in this game so you can compete with any other player even if you did not spend any money on the game.

I completely disagree Dodzh, I have came here from being priced out of other games where you need thousands of pounds to compete. This is not like that, paying cash will speed up your progress but you cannot come along with £100 and get to rank 15, everybody HAS to level up between ranks etc. so the free player has just as much oomph as the paying player.
Also, GS can only be spent on I think level 3 to 4 upgrades, others have to be upgraded from rewards from battles etc. so there is no Pay To Win for sure!!
Hopefully you’re gonna come back to read this and the few posts above and stay on as a free player (I am a free player and really enjoying the game more than the games I’ve spent cash on)… I will ofc buy a little to support the game once I know what I actually need to buy

…
however there are several f2p games which allow unlocking the content with additional ubergrind of stuff like astral pumpkins or credits worth of 2 years of day-and-night gameplay, so you can unlock everything theoretically before you lie down in your grave to rest. by actually creating more server usage by a freefarmer than a paying customer, which makes that system also kind of a risky fishing move;
therefore, having some options which do not affect gameplay being achievable only by gold currency is okay; so golden ships are somewhat in a grey area, since they do not affect endgame play (or the balance) anyway.
to note: you can however get gold currency by uberfarming sector conquest. simply create or join (a) the ferengi corporation and occupy all gold giving sectors, after rules of acquisition 34: war is good for business. ? profit.
Do not use the galactic standards so often, only when is an emergency; I am very good and i have 1076 skill rating when i have some hours of gameplay, this does not mean betwen a max upgraded ship vs a no upgraded one you will die, only if the player has a bigger rating than yours. Understand what I said?

this all sounds sane and it is your right to define economy to your liking in your game.
however, your very own official wiki for star conflict says quite differently, and i quote:
Exchanging
Galactic Standards can be exchanged for Credits (the exchange rate at the time can vary significantly). Credits can be exchanged for Galactic Standards (the exchange rate at the time can vary significantly).
These are the only two currency’s that can currently be exchanged with one another.
so, you can at least be honest to yourself and your players, if you are to build any kind of community.
personally, i like the game very much and would love to see it grow, but this kind of double talk will get you nowhere…
thank you.
