Funny/Hilarious Situtations you have encountered in game.

Well yeah, i still like latin letters more for our languages, but when you speak a language based more on syllables, hanguls become logical.

I want a thread that is automatically changing the thread name with the actually topic-discussion of the members. xD

Would be easier to flag the 3-5 threads on this forum that did not get derailed on page 2 at the latest.

We specialize in derailing threads :stuck_out_tongue:

I just wish you could skip learning the moon runes, and learn in romanized. I don’t care for Japanese writings, i find them unnecessary, but the language itself seems nice.

Check Korean for example, their writing i can accept, it’s perfectly logical and can be handled.

The only drawback, IMO, is the loss of meaning in the words. You can’t pronounce a traditional Chinese character by looking at it, but you learn its meaning intuitively. Over-reliance on written scripts that represent pronunciation rather than meaning is the reason why people confuse ‘there’ with ‘their’, and a whole host of other words.

Hangul is a beautiful thing, it was constructed to be easily learned by the mostly illiterate population at the time. The letters are shaped to visually represent the place in the mouth where the corresponding sound is created. I find that script quite fascinating.

According to my Korean teacher, Hangul also reflects elements of Confucianist philosophy, though I’m unfortunately not familiar enough with Confucianism to see it. I believe that convinced UNESCO to put Hangul on their Memory of the World Heritage list.

The thing is, it’s not caused by the alphabet. It’s caused by pronunciation irregularities. In some languages, written form is consistently follows how you pronounce, and lo, no such stuff happens.

Not really… Take for example “you’re” and “your”. If you attempt to spell blindly based on pronunciation, you’ll get the two mixed up easily. But if you understand the meaning of the word, you’ll never confuse the two. Same goes for “it’s” and “its”, “who’s” and “whose”…

Hm… I just realized all the examples I raised are related to grammar.

That’s exactly what I said. There are languages where if you say something, you can write it down correctly easily. It has nothing to do with the alphabet. There is this book, by Iain Banks, the Feersum Endjinn (supposed to be Fearsome Engine), which is a prime example of this, because it totally doesn’t translate.

Do…I change the thread title?

Once upon a time, in Sector Conquest the kind blokes in esb were using all thermal weapons. (mainly the small one)

I decided, “Time to go all out on the thermal defense in my guard!”. I got lucky and got a another game with them.

There I was, draining fire from just about every one of them. The only reason I died was because I didn’t ram myself into a random object to cancel out the spydrones.

I had a verrrry high regeneration rate :stuck_out_tongue: (was using the rank 13 Jericho Inquisitor)

Coincidentally Nuclear winter was the week i decided to finally move in into T3 without knowing, having 3 ships mk2-mk3 equiped from all T2 farming, and then

I remember that when I was there, I barely had r7 and some r8 ships. By the time I got the Strong the nukes were already exclusive for Cov Ops, so I couldn’t enjoy the Grim Reaper farming

Electric Magnet Generator or EMG, once used, like a micro locator, it will stay in place and attract all enemy matters to it, regardless of range.
