FIX THEM. They are almost impossible to hit.
I think we need to make drones easier to hit AND have them spawn a little more quickly. If they’re too easy to kill, engies would be droneless most of the time.
Agreed. They would need more in their ammo, but they are almost impossible to hit with non-AoE weapons(Or missiles)
The same goes for charging stations that engineers drop. Those don’t move at least, but the hitbox is tiny.
I did see this in a game yesterday. I found it kind of funny when I saw it.
the engineer stations don’t move and have a larger hit box, so they are not very hard to hit.
Imho its not a bug its a feature.
Think about it, Drones are the only “Missiles” which dont apply the damage directly. You also need to lock a target and if you loose it they return to your ship.
This fact alone makes them a tricky to use weapon. If they die too easily there would be no point in using them anymore.
They feel in terms of missiles quite underpowered if you cant perma-lock a target.
Actually, the drones keep following the target even if you lose lock. They only come back if the target is destroyed and you have no other targets locked, or their target goes out of range.(Or cloaks)
You just have to clear LOS from the engi just like from a sniper.
EDIT: i always lost them like that. Are you sure they follow you unlocked Funky?
I’ve seen them follow after canceling a lock. They’ll keep going 7km away at their pace. You have to pick a new target.
As for their hit box, singularity takes them out without trying and shrapnel takes them out with a little trying. I’m guessing zero spread lasers work but I’ve never tried. A lot of weapons make it next to impossible. Coil mortar needs to be about 300m to deal with the spread. Heavy blaster’s probably the same. Against a distracted enemy they’re really powerful, even if they could be killed easier. If the target has the right weapon or friends with the right weapon they die easy. It’s not balanced.
zero spread lasers actually are very hard. You have to get a beam exactly across them, since the lasers will go through them. So it can take a while to get it right.

Why in the world would you run a “Battery” on a federation Engineer in PvE?
I didn’t bother changing modules. Both shield modules are purple so why need a static barrier? There are enough hiding spots as is. The only other options are modules that heal myself, when I’m an engineer, flares when there are no missiles launched, or a warpgate which isn’t needed anyway.
4 heals +HwyBlaster+EM torps is most efficient build for an engineer on blackwood for PvE Premade or Pug no matter. While running Battery/Coils/Drones not gonna make you lose the game, those module will definitely make your run considerably slower for no benefits. I personally hate PvE, i run it to farm quick cash, 7 minutes per blackwood is bearable to do 3-4 times, i see absolutely no reason to prolong boredom in it.
actually, having drones is better than EM torps, you need 1 person with torps+coil to kill the spawns, while the other 3 go after the boss. 9 drones do a lot of DPS.
Out of nowhere… DRONESWARM ON YOUR xxxx!!!-dead.

3 engineers + Guard is not one of the most efficient ways to run a Blackwood
and you don’t need a single person for killing spawns, with proper positioning and timing all spawns except for those with LRF icons will die within 5-10 seconds of they spawn, while everyone just keep killing boss. And those LRFs can be easily ignored, there is no reason to waste time killing them.
perhabs not, but it is one of the fastest ones I have seen with pugs.
My record is still 4 minute 47 with T5 ships in T4 blackwood.

5:09 is the current timestamped record by a T4 EVO squad.
I beat that time with an ESB/NOVA/ES squad quite some time ago, before the nerfed singularity.

My point exactly. This was when the game was HARD, not easy-mode.
