On topic of matching speed: game has button binds for “gradually increase speed” and “gradually decrease speed”. I bound those to my mouse’s default “increase DPI” and “decrease DPI” buttons (logitech mx518).
This lets me quickly adjust my cruise speed relative my my target, but keeps the skill factor in play - I must approximate the speed of the target and adjust speed by hand. This is especially important when landing things that have extreme accuracy requirements such as plasma arc. I also have “set speed to zero” bound to a button below “reduce DPI” button so I can quickly set my cruise speed to zero when needed (such as when hitting a parked frigate).
odd coz those keys don’t work for me. i would press [lower speed] for eg and nothing happens. always thought they were place holder for when joystick support comes on ( /offtop )

These keys actually move the small arrow to the left of the speed bar. It adjusts cruise speed, to which your ship will begin to accelerate to decelerate immediately when you release “thrust forward” and “thrust back” button.
I also trashed epic stabilized rails for 300 gold, but that’s the nature of gambling.
Ya I have a joystick and I can tweak speed on the fly easy as heck, But I have better things to do from talking to my team on team speak to typing to my team… since 6 of the 10 are just random pilots… I have to organize into a fighting force : /
